American Idol 2021 Auditions end on Sunday with more hopefuls vying for that golden ticket to Hollywood. That includes Colin Jamieson, who hopes to impress judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan with his own piano driven version of “Six Feet Under” by Billie Eilish.
Before Colin even sings a note, Katy is impressed that he winked at the camera. Knowing how to work the camera on singing shows is half the battle!
After the 22 year old wedding singer from Boxford, Mass finished a rather breathy rendition of the song, the judges have advice for him. But first, Colin criticizes his own falsetto. “I can tell I wasn’t where I wanted to be with it,” he said. “Usually it just glides right out when I’m in my own studio.”

Luke compliments his voice, but then suggests to Colin that he watch “all the breaths,” adding, “But when you got in the chorus, you were singing some pretty good stuff.”
Katy goes on to demonstrate his problematic technique, which allows breath to water down his tone. She follows up with an example of how to sing the song correctly. Her version is full bodied, with a pretty vibrato.
But despite the critiques, all three judges are on board with sending Colin on his way to Hollywood.
American Idol 2021 Auditions 5 airs on ABC Sunday March 14 at 8 pm ET/PT.
