American Idol Audition: Its Amanda Mena’s Time to Shine (VIDEO)

Amanda Mena has always been a star, but I’m kind of happy she didn’t blow up because I believe now is her time to shine. She has matured into what I call a fully baked singer who emotes, who knows how to use her tone, and she knows song choice. “Golden Slumbers” might be my favorite song by The Beatles, and Michael Woodard sang it beautifully a few seasons ago on Idol, so I’m a harsh critic. But Amanda, although not flawless (due to emotions), also performed a gorgeous rendition.

She didn’t even need a backstory to wow the judges, but I’ve got a little backstory on this seasoned reality TV show singer. Amanda won La Voz Kids in 2014 and was already a mature sounding singer then. If you check out her audition, singing a song by OG Idol winner Kelly Clarkson, she doesn’t sound like a child. She went on to compete on AGT in 2018 as Mel B.’s Golden Buzzer, alongside Mikayla Phillips from last season’s Idol. AGT eliminated both singers in the semifinals. Amanda currently has 155K followers on Instagram, a lot of which is an International following.

I’m sure that Amanda will break out a bilingual song sometime during the season when she needs to (probably in the live shows) as she sings lovely in Spanish as well. Live shows? Yes, I think she’s that good. She’s a shoo-in to go far this season. I’m calling it now. Amanda Mena will be in the top 10. Three words from my notes when I was watching the show are: Flawless. Wow. Emotive.
