Lea Michele was a Nightmare on American Idol Says Source

After Samantha Ware called fellow Glee actress Lea Michele out on Twitter for her abusive ways, which included hurling a racial insult, it didn’t take long for a pile up to start. Co-stars like Heather Morris, Amber Riley and Alex Newell supported Samantha. In addition, actors who played alongside Lea on Broadway also took to social media to describe Lea’s difficult ways. Also, Lea lost a sponsorship gig with Hello Fresh.

And now, The Sun has American Idol sources who report that Lea was a nightmare to work with on set. In 2019, the season Laine Hardy won the crown, Lea performed “Part of Your World” on Disney night with the Top 10 to promote an upcoming Little Mermaid concert.

She is truly just awful, says a source

A source exclusively told The Sun of her April 2019 stint as a guest performer: “She was a nightmare on Idol. One contestant asked for a picture and she didn’t even say no. She just walked away.”

The insider continued: “She was yelling at the audio team saying they didn’t understand her and that she can’t go on like this. She was just a diva.

“The contestants were so excited about her appearance and then she was a nightmare to everyone.”

The source alleged: “She is truly just awful.”

Lea appeared on American Idol 2018 as a celebrity duet partner

What the Sun piece doesn’t mention is that Lea ALSO appeared on American Idol in 2018 for the Celebrity Duets round, which was part of the Top 24 semifinal round. She sang two duets, one with drag queen Ada Vox (“Defying Gravity”) and Jurnee (Run to You). While Ada and Jurnee didn’t join the Lea pile on, they didn’t step forward to support the actress either.

Lea couldn’t have been too horrible in 2018, because Idol producers DID ask her back the following season as a guest performer.

Does Lea have racist tendencies?

Samantha Ware appeared on Glee season six, and as she explained in detail to Variety, Lea didn’t like her from the start, serving up one more microaggression after another. Samantha felt helpless to change the situation. As the star of the series, Lea carried a lot of clout.

After Samantha called her out, Lea posted an apology on her Instagram account.

The actress told Variety: “Am I calling Lea a racist? No. Does Lea have racist tendencies? I think Lea suffers from a symptom of living in this world in an industry that is tailored to white people.”
