American Idol 2022 winner Noah Thompson confirms label split, announces Luke Combs is releasing a song he wrote

After news leaked that Noah Thompson and his record label, 19 Recordings/BBR Music Group, parted ways recently, the American Idol 2022 winner took to social media to confirm the news and assure his fans that he will continue to pursue music as an independent artist.

Additionally, on Friday June 14, Luke Combs will release a song that Noah co-wrote as part of the Country star’s Fathers & Sons project.

“I am excited to officially announce that I have chosen to continue my career as an independent artist,” Noah shared in a video posted to Instagram. “I feel like I’ve been writing some of the best songs of my career, and I really can’t wait for y’all to hear some of these new things that I’ve been working on.” Noah promises to begin sharing his new music soon. He said, “I’m going to start teasing some of these new songs here very very soon.”

Noah did have some good news to share. He revealed, “I’m also very excited to announce that a song that I wrote is being released by Luke Combs next Friday, something called “Front Door Famous” so make sure you all go check that out too. I hope you all love it.”

The country singer promises his fans that he’s not going anywhere. “I just wanted to let you all know that we’re far from done and this is just the beginning and that I love y’all very much.”

Chayce Beckham and HunterGirl continue to release music with 19 Recordings/BBR Music Group

After the news broke that Noah and the label split, his re told Heavy via email that “Noah is currently in a transition period in his career but rest assured he is working on some of the best music of his career and will have lots of exciting announcements soon.”

The runner-up that season, HunterGirl, is still on the label’s roster and released her debut EP Tennessee Girl last week (June 7). It’s also worth noting that Noah was missing from this year’s CMA Fest “Idol Hour” 19 Recordings showcase with season 19 winner Chayce Beckham, HunterGirl, and season 21 alum Colin Stough and season 22 runner ups Jack Blocker and Will Moseley.” Along with HunterGirl, Chayce and Colin are also actively releasing new music. Chayce released a new single to country radio after his winners single “23” hit No 1 on country airplay. Colin dropped a new song ahead of a new EP in July.

A reluctant contestant

While Noah impressed the American Idol judges with his authentic country sound, and ability to convincingly flip pop songs like Rihanna’s “Stay,” he always seemed like a reluctant contestant. A construction worker from small-town Kentucky, co-raising a young son, it was his best friend Arthur who encouraged him and sent his audition tape to Idol producers.

As the competition progressed and Noah advanced from one round to the next, he appeared like a deer in the headlights, hardly able to believe his continued success on the show. Unlike Hunter, who was pursuing her dreams in Nashville, Noah had little experience in the music industry before Idol. And also, unlike Hunter, who spent years honing her songwriting skills and performing in front of crowds, Noah had limited writing and performing experience before taking the Idol stage. Hopefully he’s got a good team to support him as he strikes out on his own as an independent artist.
