Idol won the night, of course. Dancing with the Stars came in second:

-Ratings Breakdown:
It was an easy Tuesday victory for Fox, with the two-hour edition of American Idol at 21.33 million viewers and a 7.5 rating/21 share among adults 18-49 from 8-10 p.m. Compared to the 90-minute edition on the year-ago evening (Viewers: 24.41 million; A18-49: 8.9/23 on March 31, 2009, based on the final nationals), this was a loss of 3.08 million viewers and 16 percent among adults 18-49. Take a look at the half-hour breakdown:

American Idol (Fox)
8:00 p.m. – Viewers: 18.44 million (#1), A18-49: 6.7/21 (#1)
8:30 p.m. – Viewers: 19.81 million (#1), A18-49: 7.3/21 (#1)
9:00 p.m. – Viewers: 23.58 million (#1), A18-49: 8.0/21 (#1)
9:30 p.m. – Viewers: 23.50 million (#1), A18-49: 8.1/20 (#1)

Over at ABC, the live Dancing With the Stars results show finished a comfortable second, with 14.09 million viewers and a 2.9/ 9 among adults 18-49 from 8-9 p.m. Hero Buzz Aldrin remaining in the competition was no surprise. The sentimental vote carried him through. But Pamela Anderson and Shannen Doherty in the bottom two and Shannen the first to depart were clearly shockers. I guess Shannen’s bad girl past finally caught up with her.
