Instead of judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan choosing a Platinum Ticket winner in each city as they did for season 20, voters will choose ONE Platinum Ticket winner from three singers presented on Sunday’s 2022 American Music Awards.
American Idol is giving fans the chance to vote months before season 21 premieres on Sunday, February 19 on ABC.
Watch the short clip below, pick your favorite, and then go to americanidol.com/vote. At the voting site, Disney has posted un-embeddable clips of the singers’ auditions, which will probably be removed once the voting is done.
Fans are allowed one vote per user. No multiple votes or voting for multiple contestants. The voting window opened during the broadcast of the American Music Awards on Sunday November 20. Voting closes on Monday November 21 at 11 pm ET/8 pm PT.
The winner will be announced on the official American Idol social media accounts in December 2022. The FAQ does not specify a particular date. So keep your eyes peeled!

American Idol judges auditioned singers in three cities including Las Vegas, New Orleans and Nashville. Next, the singers who made it past the judges round are headed to Hollywood Week, which typically takes place in December.
