American Idol 2024 finalist Will Moseley releases redemptive original song ‘Good Book Bad’
American Idol’s 2024 Top 5 finalists release their original songs via 19 Recordings/BMG Nashville on Friday, including a track from the Georgia native, Will Moseley.
The soulful country singer will compete in Sunday’s finale (5/19) as part of the Top 3 alongside Abi Carter and Jack Blocker. Jordan Walker, Lalo Guzman and Thomas Archer wrote Will’s track, titled, “Good Book Bad. Trent Willmon produced.
Describing Will as a “Truth-telling, husky-voiced troubadour,” the blurb goes on to describe the single as a “spirited and heartfelt tale of redemption.” The lyrics, about finding Jesus goes: “Boy you need the good book bad/All your running around gotta slow down a little/ You’re living just a little too fast/You gotta meet the man somewhere in the middle.” The statement ends, “Like the most memorably resonant country songs, this essential release is concocted with the perfect recipe: honesty, forthrightness and supreme melody.”
Will found music after giving up football after an injury
During his judges audition in front of Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan, the 23-year-old singer performed an original song, “Gone for Good,” which he has also released to stream. In his video package Will shared that he played college football and dreamed of the NFL eventually drafting him. But as an offensive lineman, he took many hits. And after a difficult recovery after a third concussion, he quit playing the game to protect his health.
After football ended, he got into music. He learned to play guitar and began performing in front of people. “It’s an adrenaline rush,” he said of his new-found passion. After all three judges said yes and sent him to Hollywood, Will went on to compete with covers of favorite country songs by Chris Stapleton, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Johnny Cash, Travis Tritt and Luke Bryan. He also performed songs by Adele, Steppenwolf, and Bob Seeger.
