American Idol 2023 Alum Colin Stough arrested for DUI, underage drinking
American Idol alum Colin Stough was arrested over the weekend and charged with DUI, underage consumption of alcohol and failure to exercise due care. The 20 year old country singer was taken into custody on Friday (February 28) after he crashed his car near Nashville, Tennessee.
A release about the incident said that the highway patrol officers responded at 1:24 a.m. on Friday morning to a single-vehicle crash on I-840 East in Williamson County. “Following an investigation, the driver, Colin Stough, was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence (DUI), Underage Consumption of Alcohol, and Failure to Exercise Due Care,” read the statement posted via Billboard.
TMZ broke the news, reporting that It was not clear if Colin suffered any injuries in the crash, but he was taken to the hospital and cleared before he was booked. He has since bailed out.
Colin Stough finished 3rd on American Idol season 21 in Iam Tongi’s season
Colin Stough competed on season 21 of American Idol in 2023, placing third behind Megan Danielle and winner Iam Tongi. The singer, 18 years old at the time, auditioned in front of judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan with a gritty rendition of Simple Man by Lynyrd Skynyrd.
After graduating high school in his tiny hometown, Gattman, Mississippi, the singer and self-taught songwriter began working full-time as an HVAC technician, before his mother convinced him to audition for?American Idol.
Since competing on American Idol, Colin released his second EP Looking for Home in July 2024 via 19 Recordings/BMG Nashville. Before that, he dropped his debut EP PromiseLand. On his latest release, Colin co-wrote all six songs from the set. “This EP is really special to me. I connect with every song on this project, and I’m so grateful for the writers who came together and helped me make this body of work what it is,” Colin said at the time in a press release statement. “It’s a pretty good reflection of me and my different personalities too.”
He appeared at CMA fest in June and spent the rest of 2024 on the road playing with Austin Williams, Chase Matthew, Midland, and The Lacs.
Colin hasn’t surfaced on social media since the arrest. But his most recent Instagram posts tease new songs and photos from hunting outings.
