American Idol season 7 alum David Archuleta drops his first single of 2020. Co-written with Chantry Johnson, “Ok Alright” is an upbeat ode to psyching oneself out. In the video, David battles his demons with self-pep talk and faking it until he makes it. In the end, the singer knows that in the end he’ll truly be OK.
The song is the title track to David’s upcoming album due later this year. He recently told Billboard about the album, “A lot of [the songs] are basically the conversation I had with myself, where I’m trying to move forward, but I’m fighting a lot of the worries and negativity that I feel towards myself.” He continued, “The fun aspects of the tracks are almost like, ‘C’mon, you gotta laugh at yourself a little bit — it’s a little ridiculous how you’re thinking. Don’t let it get to you.'”
“I’ts Here!” David wrote on Twitter, “My first single of 2020 has arrived and it’s available on all platforms now. I wrote it to remind myself when life is overwhelming and stressful to not look at things in a doom gloom way but that things will be fine and work out.”
