American Idol’s Francisco Martin Drops New Song Announces EP

American Idol season 18 alum Francisco Martin has new music on the horizon. First, the singer recently released his new single, “Nobody Listens to Me!” via 19 Recordings. Additionally, the singer-songwriter announced that his sophomore EP, titled Manic, comes out on July 22.

“Nobody Listens to Me!” written by Francisco and Nicholas Sarpa, shares the frustrations Francisco experienced in the last few years. 

He sings “When I wake-up I feel useless/I don’t want this f****** b*******/I don’t want to have to do this anymore/anymore.” The lyrics and guitar driven arrangement have a punk/pop vibe, It’s a genre that’s made a comeback with hits from the likes of Avril Lavigne and Machine Gun Kelly.

On social media, Francisco wrote about how the song encompasses the ups and downs of his short music career.

“Here I am, more vulnerable than ever, asking you to listen carefully to a song that embodies all of my insecurities and the heartache that I’ve experienced ever since my music career began,” Francisco writes on Instagram. “Many times I’ve thought of giving up on this and moving back to SF [San Francisco]. Many times I’ve doubted my abilities to create.”

However, putting out the transformed him. “…this song was cathartic. It’s real. It’s helped me see the beauty in art. That I need to keep going. This song is for the misfit, underdogs and ones out there dreamin big. Enjoy.”

In 2021, Francisco released his first EP Beautiful Ramblings of a Restless Mind featuring the singles “Swollen” featuring fellow season 20 singer Julia Gargano and “Wild Girl.” His most recent singles are “Bittersweet” and “If You Need Me.” 

After Francisco finished  American Idol season 18 in the Top 5, the show’s record label 19 Recordings signed him to a record deal. Season 18 took place in 202o amid COVID-19 lockdowns. Francisco and his fellow Idols recorded performances at home with iPhones, never stepping foot on a live stage.

However, after releases his EP last year, the singer embarked on a fall tour with season 19 alum Hunter Metts as his opener.
