Kree Harrison was runner-up on American Idol season 12 in 2013 but the country singer had been kicking around Nashville for years. Long admired by the likes of Wynonna Judd and Emmylou Harris, the Texas born singer songwriter continues to make music.
Her latest single “I Love the Lie” is written by esteemed country music artist Chris Stapleton, along with his wife Morgane Stapleton and Liz Rose.
“We got pitched the song ‘I Love the Lie’ by a friend and it was almost immediate,” Kree said in an interview with Wide Open Country. “Obviously, I love the melody and the whole vibe of it…I feel like it’s a very relatable song. It just spoke to me. Also, it really helped with Chris Stapleton singing the demo.”
The Texas born singer songwriter has just dropped the music video for the song. Directed by Alex Berger and Slater Goodson, the clip features two actors playing out a scene on stage while a dissatisfied director intervenes. Watch the full video for a fun twist at the end.
“I Love the Lie” is from Kree’s upcoming “90s-infused” sophomore album which she is recording at Echo Mountain Recording in Asheville NC. Set to be released in 2019, the album is produced by Jordan Lehning and Skylar Wilson.
