American Idol season 2019 winner Laine Hardy released a brand-new song “Authentic” today, July 23.
The southern-rock inspired track follows his latest single “Memorize You,” written by Michael Tyler, Eric Arjes and Steven Dale Jones, and produced by Michael Knox. The country singer recently performed the romantic ballad on the ABC reality show, The Bachelorette.
Written by Jessi Alexander, Matt Jenkins, and David Lee Murphy, and set to twanging guitars, “Authentic” namechecks several country music tropes including truck driving, hard drinking and good ole’ boys “running round these fields.”
The chorus goes: “It’s who we are/It’s What what we do/The way the good Lord meant it/It’s in the blood/Ties in the mud/It’s just the life that we’re living/It’s tried and true/Can’t buy it new/If you think you can/You don’t get it/If it burns your lips when you take a sip/You’re gonna know it’s Authentic.”
Michael Knox produced the track.
In other Laine Hardy news: The Louisiana native will make his Grand Ole Opry debut on August 28. “Growing up listening to country music, playing the Grand Ole Opry has always been a dream of mine,” said Laine. “Stepping into that circle where so many artists I’ve loved my whole life have been, it’s really going to be a crazy and special moment for me.”
On Thursday (July 22), Laine kicked off his “Monster Energy Outbreak Tour,” which will run through the fall. Previous headlines of the series include Lindsay Ell, Bones UK, Post Malone, Kendrick Lamar, Macklemore, The Chainsmokers, Mike Shinoda, Cole Swindell, Larkin Poe and many others. Additionally, he is opening for country superstar Toby Keith on select dates. Check out Laine’s tour schedule HERE.
