There was an American Idol takeover on Good Morning America today (Feb 27). The American Idol judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan were on hand to chat up Sunday’s season 17 premiere (March 3).
But the trio also introduced the reigning American Idol winner, Maddie Poppe, who performed an acoustic version of her new song “Little Things.” Watch it here:
Regarding the single “Little Things,” Maddie says: “This is a special song- it was written specifically for me, inspired by my relationship with Caleb.” Maddie began dating fellow Idol contestant, Caleb Lee Hutchinson while filming the show, and shares that he has been a big source of inspiration for her music. “I couldn’t believe how much every word rings true to my relationship and how it feels when we’re apart.”
On May 17, just ahead of the American Idol season 17 finale, Maddie plans to release a full-length.
