Another American Idol alum will make their Broadway debut! This time, it’s season 14 winner, Nick Fradiani. He is set for the new Neil Diamond jukebox musical, A Beautiful Noise.
Nick will serve as the alternate for the young version of Neil Diamond (Then). He’ll be an understudy, but also perform once a week on Wednesday nights. The singer announced the news on social media:
“Broadway debut!! I’m so excited to announce I’ll be playing Neil Diamond -Then (Alternate) in the new Broadway musical @abeautifulnoisemusical!,” Nick wrote. “I’ll be performing once a week on Wednesday nights! I can’t wait to continue this journey into musical theater.” Nick previously starred in a touring company of The Bronx Tale. Unfortunately, his run was interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Nick’s message continues: “This story and cast is truly incredible, and I’m really lucky to be a part of it. @neildiamond was a huge part of my childhood, and he was the first concert I ever attended at 3 years old with my parents! Huge thanks to @mattyredmond and @dgrwinc for believing in me as an actor, and helping me move forward in this part of my career. Cya in New York!!!”
The show will begin preview performances Wednesday, November 2 ahead of a Sunday, December 4 opening night at Broadway’s Broadhurst Theatre.

The cast is led by Will Swenson as Neil Diamond – Then. Swenson starred in A Beautiful Noise’s world premiere this summer at Boston’s Emerson Colonial Theatre.
Swenson will be joined at the Broadhurst by his costars from the Boston run Tony Award nominee Mark Jacoby as Neil Diamond – Now, Tony Robyn Hurder as Marcia, who Jacquinn Sinclair and Linda Powell as Doctor.
They will be joined by Jessie Fisher as Jaye Posner; Michael McCormick as Paul Colby, Tommy O’Rourke; Tom Alan Robbins as Bert Berns, Kieve Diamond; and Bri Sudia as Ellie Greenwich, Rose Diamond.
