HunterGirl teases possible duet with American Idol winner Noah Thompson
American Idol winner Noah Thompson and runner-up HunterGirl are currently on a co-headlining tour together.
19 Records/BBR Records signed both artists to a label deal. The two became fast friends while competing on American Idol earlier this year. Will their label-mate status and friendship translate into a collaboration at some point?
“I think we would in the future!” HunterGirl told Hollywood Life in a recent interview. “You know, going on this tour and getting to play all of our songs together, I think we could definitely come out maybe with a duet in the future. Definite possibility.”
Noah had “no experience whatsoever in performing prior to Idol.”
While HunterGirl has been in Nashville writing songs and performing music, Noah is all new to the music business and is learning a lot.
He told Hollywood Life that he had “no experience whatsoever in performing prior to Idol.” He added, “You definitely do grow on the show, but afterwards, there was a point for me, where it was like, ‘Ok, this is it. This is where I have to take off.’ So, I’ve been playing all these shows back home and getting to travel around with my band, and everything has been a lot of help for me as an artist.”
HunterGirl recently played her first arena show, opening for Justin Moore. “It’s been insane!” she told Hollywood Life, calling opening for Moore in a big arena a “cool moment.” She gushed, “Getting to have that moment, just standing there on stage, thinking ‘oh my gosh, getting to singe my original songs on a stage, open up for Justin Moore, artists that I’ve loved since I was little… all of these opportunities came just because of taking a chance,”
“I went home, spent some time with my family, and then went to Nashville and put my band together!” HunterGirl said. “Just getting to be out in front of a live audience the past few months, and trying out some new songs has been so special. Also, getting to see all the people that supported me this past year. I can’t wait to work on some really cool, special stuff for the tour.”
Noah and HunterGirl recently dropped new singles
HunterGirl wrote her new single, “Hometown Out of Me” shortly after American Idol.
“My hometown has supported my dream since I was little and especially through this crazy year of my life,” shared HunterGirl in a press statement. “I wanted my first single following the show to be a thank you card to my hometown. The reason I get to chase my dream is because of the amazing people who have supported me. No matter where this journey takes me, I will never forget where I came from.”
The idea came to her when she was in line at the grocery store in her hometown of Winchester, Tennessee with her mom, and noticed people in town had bought ads in their local paper to cheer her on during her Idol journey.
“I’m from a small town in Eastern Kentucky and didn’t grow up with much,” Noah says in a press statement about his new single “Make You Rich.” “I’ve learned to value my friends and family so much more than the materialistic things we can have in life. I joke that I’m just a simple guy. I’ve also learned, even when life is tough, the more you give and the more you love, the richer you are, and that is the whole meaning behind ‘Make You Rich.’”
“We just both are so grateful that we get to go on tour…” Noah told Hollywood Life. “There’s no other person I want to do that with than Hunter. We became best friends on that show and we’re going to just have a blast out on the road together.”
