American Idol season 2 winner Ruben Studdard drops new single on a new label
After celebrating the 20th anniversary of this American Idol win on the show’s recent finale, Ruben Studdard releases a new single, “The Way I Remember It.”
“The Way I Remember It” is the first single from Ruben’s forthcoming album. The beautifully-sang ballad is globally available now via all streaming and downloading platforms. “’The Way I Remember It,’ is a classic love song written and produced by Belewa Muhammad. It’s just the kind of Luther-style ballad folks have been waiting for from me!!!,” Ruben said in a press statement.
Ruben will release his long awaited album in September
Ruben’s upcoming album, will be released in September and will be the American Idol season 2 winner’s first full project, under his new label partnership with Conjunction Entertainment and the SRG-ILS Group.
“I am truly excited to join a label that is always looking out for their artists and making sure that whatever they release, it’s great music that is impactful to the culture,” said Ruben. “After partnering with veteran songwriter and producer, Balewa Muhammad and Executive Producer, Walter W. Millsap, I just knew that finding the right home for me was key and I am happy to be here, and I am ready to rock and roll with Claude Villani and the entire SRG/ILS team!”
Ruben’s next album will be his first set of new material since 2014’s Unconditional Love. In between, the singer released a Luther Vandross tribute album Ruben Sings Luther Vandross in 2018 ahead of a nationwide tour.
Ruben recently finished a leg of his co-headlining Twenty The Tour with American Idol runner-up Clay Aiken. The two appeared together on American Idol, 20 years to the day that Ruben won the title. The duo sang “Bridge Over Troubled Water.”
The tour resumes Sept. 23 at Arcadia Performing Arts Center in Arcadia, California. Tickets are available at rubenandclay.com.
