America’s Got Talent 2018 Recap Live Quarterfinals 1 Performance VIDEOS

Reigning America’s Got Talent winner Darci Lynne performs.

First, let’s recap last night’s performances! And boy, that went on forever. It’s 8:10 and Tyra is only introducing the judges. Simon says he has “no idea” who is going to leave tonight. He said everyone was great, except one or two. “The people who spat.”

The Dunkin Save is back! Is anyone surprised? These acts came in sixth, seventh, and eighth. Angel City Choral. Junior New System and Mochi. Vote at NBC.com or on your AGT Phone app. If you live on the west coast, follow the show on social media to find out voting details. You have 30 minutes to vote.

Time for some sponsor shilling in the way of the “Dunkin Lounge.” Next, it’s a video package featuring the contestants and their long journeys to America’s Got Talent. Jordan Smith’s “Stand in the Light” plays in the background.

Time for some results! We Three, The Pac Team and Flau’jae take center stage. America has voted! The first act going into the semi finals is…We Three. They’re very tearful. After Simon’s bad critique, they probably thought elimination was nigh. “You are not a support act!” says Mel, “You sing from the heart.”

Vicki Barbolak and Human Fountains are next. America has voted. The next act going into the semifinals is…Vicki Barbolak.

Next, the 2017 America’s Got Talent winner, Darci Lynne takes the stage. Tonight, she has her puppet Petunia with her. The puppet wants to quit showbiz. Ha. This is so old fashioned. Have we been transported to the Ed Sullivan show?

More results! Amanda Mena and Courtney Hadwin take the stage.  America has voted…the next act going into the semifinals is…BOTH Amanda and Courtney. I figured as much. Gee EVERYONE reminds Mel of herself. While Amanda was her Golden Buzzer, she’s glad they both went through. Howie is not surprised Courtney, his Golden Buzzer is in.

Next, it’s Lord Nil and Shin Lim. Uhm. This result is really obvious! The next act going into the semifinals is…Shin Lim of course.

NOW time for revealing the Dunkin Save. OMG MOCHI IS CRYING. Like, literally bawling his eyes out. And the act America voted through to the semifinals: Angel City Choral. Ugh. They are the act I would have sent home.  The judges choose the last result.

Back from break. Mochi has calmed down a little.  The judges will vote. Mel B watched the show 4 or 5 times last night? Sure. She picks Mochi. Heidi doesn’t want either to be mad! But she picks Junior New System. Howie thought Mochi stepped it up last night. He chooses him. Simon says he could make a case for both. But he chooses Junior New System. DEADLOCK. Now America’s votes will determine the winner. And Junior New System wins! Mochi is eliminated.

Mel B – Mochi
Heidi – Junior New System
Howie – Mochi
Simon – Junior New System.

SAFE

We Three
Vicki Barbolak
Amanda Mena
Courtney Hadwin
Shin Lim
Angel City Choral – Dunkin Save
Junior New System – Judges Save Deadlocked (Determined by Viewer Votes)

ELIMINATED

The Pac Team
Flau’jae
Human Fountains
Lord Nil
Mochi

The results aren’t TOO surprising. Flau’jae might have fared better competing against fewer music acts. Or rapping lyrics that weren’t vaguely anti-police. Poor Mochi. I’ve never seen an adult cry so hard at elimination time. I would have preferred him go through over the choir. I do not get Simon Cowell’s love affair with big choirs.
