America’s Got Talent 2021 finally reveals the winner tonight! The AGT champ wins a $1 million annuity and will headline the AGT residency at the Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas.

The Top 10 finalists are: aerialist Aidan Bryant, singers Brooke Simpson, Jimmie Herrod and Victory Brinker, magician Dustin Tavella, comedians Gina Brillon and Josh Blue, quick change artist Lea Kyle, Northwell Health Nurse Choir, and World Taekwondo Demonstration Team. (Read last night’s Recap)
Tonight’s Guest Stars
Tonight, the finalists will be paired up with guest stars, including Broadway actress Idina Menzel, singing group Pentatonix, singer-songwriter Bishop Briggs, actor and comedian George Lopez, actor Rico Rodriguez, AGT season nine winner and magician Mat Franco, gymnasts Jordan Chiles and MyKayla Skinner. magician Piff the Magic Dragon and AGT season 8 runner-up Taylor Williamson.

Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, Sofia Vergara sit on the judges panel. Terry Crews serves as host.
Terry declares that it’s been the CLOSEST VOTE IN AGT HISTORY.
After a recap, Idina Menzel and Jimmie Herrod take the stage to sing “Defying Gravity”!!!! Yes!!! I was hoping for this! It’s a perfect duet for Jimmie. Hopewell Nurse Choir backs them up. It is a PERFECT performance.
Next, Aiden Bryant and the World Taekwondo Demonstration Team perform together. Jordan Chiles and MyKayla Skinner join them to perform gymnastics tumbling. The two Olympians didn’t spend much time on stage.
Next a video package where Lea Kyle helps Heidi Klum chose some outfits. Magic is involved.
Now, Brooke Simpson is singing “White Flag” again. But this time with Bishop Briggs as a duet partner. Odd that they didn’t choose a different song by Bishop? Maybe they had no time to rehearse something new. Great duet! Bishop says she has zero advice for “superstar” Brooke. She’d like them to tour together!
Time for another video package. The judges had a welcome back Simon Cowell party at the beginning of the season. Many hijinks backstage!
Terry introduces Gina Brillon. She introduces the comic who inspired her, George Lopez. He compliments Gina for being prepared. And he reminds everybody that it’s Spanish Heritage Month. The two tell jokes about Latin folks being superstitious. Speaking of, she wants to cut George’s hair to bring her good luck tonight. And magically, a barber chair appears. She begins chopping his probably fake hair. OK thn.
In the meantime, it’s the LAST SONIC ROUTE 44 Lounge. Yippee for time wasting videos. Next, a few of the “Sonic Challenge Videos” submitted by viewers.
Idina Menzel is back to sing “Dream Girl” from the Amazon Cinderella movie reboot. She’s backed by an all girl rock band.
Time for more filler! Because Simon punked her earlier in the season, Sofia plots revenge. A sculptor is hired to create busts of the cast to be displayed at the Luxor residency in Las Vegas. The busts are fine, except for Simon’s which is horrific. t”This is the ugliest thing I’ve ever seen,” Simon keeps muttering. “This is not going in the lobby of the Luxor” he says. Finally, Sofia admits to pranking him, and he responds. “I hate you!”
In another video package, Terry Crews visits a Los Angeles middle school to give away musical instruments. Terry tells the story of an aunt who gifted him with a flute. Learning to play it changed his life. The gift was sponsored by the Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation. The instruments are all string instruments.
Next, Mat Franco, the first magician to win AGT takes the stage with Dustin Tavella. Rico Rodriguez played Sofia’s son on Modern Family. He takes the stage to help the act. Ha. No. It wasn’t a surprise for Sofia. His appearance was announced yesterday! The act involves a bunch of teddy bears. Each of the bears have blank tags attached. But I’m sure they won’t be blank for long. Oh. It’s the “look under your seats” deal. Teddy Bears with the phrase Howie thought of “Be Kind.” The act required a ton of bears, and they are all headed to “Toys for Tots.”
Next, Terry announces that the winner and runner up win a Kia car! Whee!
Now, in another video package, Josh Blue consults with Howie Mandel about comedy. Season 8 runner-up Taylor Williamson shows up to give him advice. But then the winner of that season Kinechi interrupts to steal Taylor’s moment AGAIN. Preacher Lawson arrives to pimp the Luxor show. Season 7 runner-up, Tom Cotter, who lost to a bunch of dogs is next. Finally, Piff the Magic Dragon says LOSING IS THE BEST. “Why am I taking advice from a bunch of losers?” Josh wonders.
Next, Victory Brinker is joined by a cappella group Pentatonix to sing “The Prayer.” Victory is having a hard time staying in tune.
FINALLY IT’S TIME FOR RESULTS
Terry announces the Top 5.
Gina Brillon and Josh Blue step forward. One will stay in the competition. One will go home And of course, Josh Blue is in the Top 5! Gina Brillon is eliminated
Next, Jimmie Herrod and Lea Kyle step forward. Lea Kyle is in the Top 5! Jimmie Herrod is eliminated.
Aiden Bryant and World Taekwondo Demonstration Team step forward. Only one is staying in the competition. Aiden Bryant is in the Top 5! World Taekwondo is eliminated.
Victory Brinker and Brooke Simpson step forward. Brooke Simpson is in the Top 5! Victory Brinker is eliminated.
Northwell Health Nurse Choir and Dustin Tavella step forward. Dustin Tavella is in the Top 5, Northwell Health Nurse Choir is eliminated

Now, Terry will announce the Top 5 finalists in order. Lea Kyle finishes in Fifth place.
Leaving in 4th place is…Brooke Simpson. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. People in the audience are for real BOOING. Simon calls Brooke “sensational.” She looks so disappointed.
The act finishishing in 3rd place is…Josh Blue. WHAT? MORE BOOING from the audience. If Dustin Tavella wins, I’m gonna be BIG MAD.
It’s TIME TO REVEAL THE WINNER. Terry says it’s the closest the Top 2 has been in AGT history. And Dustin Tavella wins AGT. I f****** hate this show.
I figured that Dustin would make at least the Top 5, because his act is so sentimental. But his magician skills are very ordinary. The Top 3 should have been Josh, Brook and Aiden. I wanted Brooke to win, but would have been cool with any of the three taking the crown. Also, I want to shout out to Jimmie Herrod, a STELLAR singer who deserved at least a spot in the Top 5.
All three had compelling backstories. Aiden, is the misfit who taught himself hoop skills, Brooke wants to be the first indigenous pop star, and Josh has forged a comedy career while living with cystic fibrosis. But the talent of all three supersedes their backstories. AGT has always had a “Queen for a Day” vibe. But it’s as if talent doesn’t matter. Have the biggest sobbiest backstory? YOU WIN! Bleh.
Overall, other than a handful of bright spots, this season of AGT was a dud. It’s become too predictable.
