America’s Got Talent 2021 Results begin tonight. The first group of 12 quarterfinalists performed last night for your vote. Tonight, seven acts will move on to the semifinals, while 5 acts will be eliminated.
Five acts will advance automatically to the next round, but the 6th, 7th and 8th place finishers will vie for the final two spots. Fans can vote to save a favorite, while the judges–Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum and Sofia Vergara–save an act from the bottom two vote getters.
Also, current AGT winner, poet Brandon Leake and 2017 winner Darci Lynne perform. Additionally, the show checks in with Nightbirde, who dropped after her cancer diagnosis worsened.
Simon becomes emotional speaking with Nightbirde
And after a recap of last night’s act, Terry rolled a clip taped earlier. In it, Nightbirde, who was Simon Cowell’s Golden Buzzer shares her thoughts after dropping out to continue her cancer fight. Howie calls her the poster person for courage. Sofia says, “We were amazed by you.” Simon mentions that they have spoken a few times. Simon assures her that she didn’t let anyone down. “You’ve already won. Your clip has had impact.” Simon says her well being is the most important thing. He thanks her for auditioning. Simon’s voice cracks. “We all hurt, we all suffer and we all have the potential to overcome,” says Nightbirde.

Now, it’s reigning AGT winner Brandon Leake performing one of his Spoken Word Poems. He has help from some friends, who are a part of a hometown poetry collective. He recites a poem about his Stockton. There are those who will screeeeech that this poem, which champions immigrants, indigenous and POC is too “woke.” Twitter reactions should be fun. What Brandon has coming up: a movie, a record and A CHILD IN TWO WEEKS. Additionally, Brandon will be heading to AGT’s Luxor Vegas Live residency when it opens this fall.
More results: The Canine Stars, Gina Brillon and Sethward step forward. America has voted. The next act going into the semi-finals is, Gina Brillon! She looks surprised and very, very relieved. Simon tried to throw Gina under the bus. But for comics, Howie’s stamp of approval, as a veteran stand-up, may be the most important of all. He’s a fan, and praises her hard work.
PSYCH! Both Peter and Jimmie advance
Peter Rosalita and Jimmie Herrod step forward. America has voted! The next act going into the semifinals is…BOTH OF THEM! PSYCH. Terry specifically said only one act would go through. But he lied. “You guys are so good at getting us!” said Jimmie. If I had to pick which one would possibly go, I’d choose Peter. He’s got a ton of views on Youtube, but I suspect most of that comes from his Filipino fans overseas. On the other hand, Jimmie is Sofia’s Golden Buzzer and ended the show las night with a show stopping number.
And the last result: Dustin Tavella and Matt Johnson step forward. America has voted. The next act going into the semifinals is…Dustin Tavella. It’s hard to watch acts that realize they are heading home before Terry announces the results. Dustin right now, is a sentimental favorite.
Darci Lynne is all growed up!
Next, is 2017 winner, ventriloquist Darci Lynne. Woah. She’s all growed up! She must be about 16 now. She performs with her puppet Oscar who sings “Let the Good Times Roll.” Darci says she started her brand new tour, that includes more music, including ORIGINAL SONGS. Her tour is called “My lips are sealed, except when they’re not.” Cute.
And America Saved…
Beyond Belief Dance Company, Kabir Singh, and Madilyn Bailey. The act going through to the semifinals is…Kabir Singh! YAYYYYY! America has some sense.
