America’s Got Talent season 17 will advance two more acts to the finale tonight. Last week, in a surprise shakeup, contrary to what NBC stated in a press release, the two winners were based solely on America’s vote, rather than the judges choosing one of the acts to advance. Instead of filling up the live broadcast with the Instant Save to determine a winner, and the Judges Save to determine another, the night will consist of host Terry Crews paring down the field from 11 to 5, to 3 and then finally the two acts moving forward.
The old format featured both an Instant Save and a Judges Save, which brought inherent drama to the proceedings. Watching Terry eliminate contestants is boring by comparison. The Instant Save returns at the end of the Qualifiers when fans will have the opportunity to vote an 11th act into the finale.

Who will advance tonight? All three polls are similar, with Chapel Hart, Duo Rings and Yu Hojin as your top picks. Chapel Hart and Duo Rings SHOULD advance. As far as who WILL advance–Chapel Hart feels like a sure thing. But it’s between Duo Rings and Yu Hojin for the second spot.
Prediction:
Chapel Hart is going to sail on through to the finale. They closed the show with a crowd pleasing, foot stomping, honky-tonk number. And the judges basically BEGGED America to vote for them. Plus, the country trio had a ton of press after their audition. Their original audition song, “You Can Have Him Jolene” is still charting on the overall iTunes chart at No. 20, while last night’s song, “The Girls are Back In Town” is sitting at No. 24.
For the second spot, I will keep my fingers crossed for the creative and mesmerising Duo Rings, but predict magician Yu Hojin. He performed a sentimental routine near the end of the show. Winning over Simon Cowell finally created a satisfying growth arc that viewers love. so Chapel Hart and Yu Hojin advance tonight.
