America’s Got Talent 2023 Top 11 Power List! How would you rate the finalists?
America’s Got Talent season 18 will come to a close this week as the Top 11 acts vie for the win on Tuesday September 26. AGT will reveal the winner of the competition on Wednesday September 27. Both episodes begin airing live at 9 pm ET/PT. (An AGT recap of the previous night’s show will air on Wednesday at 8 pm ET/PT)
AGT: Fantasy League Coming in 2024 with Former Judge, Familiar Twists
I’ve attempted to put together an ultimately haphazard power list! Nevertheless, the Top 5 seem reasonable. Putri Ariana, Simon’s Golden Buzzer could definitely win it all.
Warrior Squad and Gabriel Henrique would have made worthy finalists, but it was not meant to be (I would have swapped in Gabriel for the 82nd Airborne Choir and Warrior Squad for Mzansi Youth Choir)
How would you rank The America’s Got Talent 2023 Top 11 acts? Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum and Sofia Vergara sit on the panel. Terry Crews hosts.
I’ve linked to each act’s qualifier performance in case you need a refresher.
11. Adrian Stoica and Hurricane – Dog Act
This dog act is one of the best ever on AGT. Yes, better than season 7 winner, Olate Dogs. Rather than run Hurricane through obstacle courses and tricks, Adrian creates elaborate storylines for himself and Hurricane that appear to run seamlessly. However, at this point, the competition is pretty tough. Too many fan favorite acts competing for the prize. Also, after a month, the act’s Youtube clip has only amassed 405K views. – VIDEO
10. Anna Deguzman – Magician
Anna is an entertaining magician, but not one of the greatest on the show, which has seen some REALLY great magicians pass through the seasons. Plus, she does not seem to be a judges favorite–both Simon and Heidi tried to trip up her Qualifiers performance. I’m not sure how much support she’ll receive from them on Tuesday. – VIDEO
9. Ramadhani Brothers – Head Balancers
It’s so odd that Ramadhani Brothers edged into the Top 2 last week past the wildly viral act, Avantgardey. Their video only garnered 190K viewers while Avantgardey has amassed 1.4M views in less than a week! Those views did NOT translate into votes, which probably means the dance group a huge overseas fan base. In any case, the brothers put on a tense and amazing show, taking balancing to a new level. – VIDEO
8. 82nd Airborne Chorus – Chorus
They were the surprise result of last week. The choir advanced past fan favorite performers like Avantgardey and Gabriel Henrique. Sure they performed last and were actually really good. But their competition was even better. And still their clip has only garnered 227K views. Depending on when they perform in the lineup, I think the competition in the finals will overwhelm them. Considering that the Army is a major NBC advertising partner it would sure look shady if they won the show. – VIDEO
7. Ahren Belisle – Comic
Ahren, a comic born with cerebral palsy and unable to speak has charmed the AGT audience with his comedy, delivered by a text to voice app. The Canadian comedian has MASTERED his phone app, delivering clever and hilarious punchlines despite the monotone delivery. Or because of it! But his low key act, while appealing will be no match for the big splashy performances he’ll be competing against. – VIDEO
6. Avantgardey – Dance Group – Instant Save winner
Avantgardey is second only to Putri Ariani in Youtube views with 1.4M! Still, I can’t place them higher on the list because they couldn’t get into the Top 11 without the wildcard vote. And the acts ahead of them on this list are fan favorites. Nevertheless, their unique, precise and quirky dance moves belong in the finale. – VIDEO
5. Lavender Darcangelo – Singer – Heidi Golden Buzzer
Heidi’s buzzer combines an inspirational backstory with impressive talent. Lavender is blind and autistic and she languished in foster care until her married fathers adopted her. Her voice isn’t perfect, but it is strong and emotional. In another season she might have had a chance to win the show, but she’s a good bet for the Top 5. – VIDEO
4. Mzansi Youth Choir – Choir – Audience Golden Buzzer
This youth choir from Africa received the first-ever audience golden buzzer. In their audition, the group melted hearts when they covered the late Simon Cowell Golden Buzzer, Nightbirde’s “It’s OK.” Their Qualifiers performance didn’t match their audition, but it was still solid. The group’s choreography and solo voices are excellent. They won’t win, but are a good bet for the Top 5. – VIDEO
3. Murmuration – Dance Group – Howie’s Golden Buzzer
Murmuration, from France, are an incredible dance group that performs choreography that ripples across the stage. They are reminiscent of last year’s winner, Mayyas. Murmuration’s performances have the same undulating character and hypnotic effect. The similarity may be their downfall, however, as the two acts share marked stylistic similarities. – VIDEO
2. Chibi Unity – Dance Group – Group Golden Buzzer
The talented Japanese dance crew performs exquisite and unique routines. Sometimes it’s hard for large dance groups to stand out, but Chibi brings talent, elegance and precision to their routines. I wouldn’t be mad if they won. They could win or come in as the runner-up. – VIDEO
1. Putri Ariani – Singer – Simon Golden Buzzer
WOW Putri’s Qualifiers performance of U2’s “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” has garnered over 8.5 million views. That’s A LOT OF VIEWS. She’s Simon’s golden buzzer, so he’s pulling out all the stops for her. But she’s also a talented singer who won Indonesia’s Got Talent in 2014 at the age of 8. The singer, who is blind, possesses a pure bell-like tone, and is not afraid to take risks. She started off her U2 cover a capella. AGT fans have connected with her. Although a bunch of those Youtube views are from overseas, the number is huge–over 4x as many as Avantgardey the act with the second highest Youtube views of the Top 11 qualifier performances. – VIDEO
