America’s Got Talent 2024 releases its first season 19 preview clip. Glimpse the acts who will compete for the $1M dollar prize
As soon as The Voice and American Idol end their seasons this Spring, another talent show is ready to go to take their place. On Tuesday, May 28, summertime favorite America’s Got Talent will kick off season 19 with it’s premiere episode.
The entire gang is back together again. While Mel B. stepped in for Sofia Vergara on the AGT: Fantasy League judges panel last winter, she has once again retired to make way for the return of Sofia, who will sit alongside regular judges Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum and creator Simon Cowell. Terry Crews returns as host.
One acts lifts heavy objects with his body parts. Sofia can’t watch.
The 60 second clip features a glimpse of the talent to come, including dancers, daring acrobats, outrageous head balancers, trapeze artists, and a danger act that has the panel screaming. He appears to swallow a giant pair of scissors and lift heavy objects with chains attached to his eyelids. GROSS. How will Sofia, who could not watch, judge the act. “I DON’T KNOW IT’S HORRIFIC,” she moans as Simon cackles.
There are also fire acts and acts so big, they have to be conducted outdoors. Howie declares a contestant the youngest in AGT history (I remember a 4 year old singer in the aughts?) Maybe the young boy performing math on a whiteboard is only 3!
Season 19 boasts 9 Golden Buzzers
“Everything that you think there’s no way to top it,” Howie says at the top of the clip, “this season tops it.” Simon says, “You genuinely don’t know what’s going to happen next.”
The clip ends with Simon saying to an act, “I’m sorry I can’t give you a yes, but I can give you…” and then he stands up to hit his Golden Buzzer.
Speaking of Golden Buzzers, there are more buzzers than ever. Each of the judges get TWO buzzers apiece, while Terry gets one. The audience and group buzzers are no more, it appears.
America’s Got Talent 2024 airs Monday at 8 pm ET/PT on NBC beginning May 28. The live shows begin on Aug. 13 with live results to start airing on Wednesday nights.
