9-Year-Old Singer Pranysqa Mishra Earns Heidi Klum’s Golden Buzzer with a flawless rendition of Tina Turner’s “River Deep Mountain High”
America’s Got Talent Week 5 auditions (July 2) featured several kid acts. But one standout was 9 year old singer Pranysqa Mishra who earned judge Heidi Klum’s second and final Golden Buzzer. (Read our Recap)
Pranysqa, the final audition of the night is a singer from Tampa, Florida. During her introduction to the judges she revealed, “I’ve always just loved singing. It makes me happy.” She described pretending to sing into a microphone as far back as 4 years old. Her grandma has advised her to “always sing out.” She felt s ready for the big stage, but was nervous about singing in front of Simon Cowell. Her little sister, thrilled to see the judges, adorably interrupted Pranysqa’s interview. Her sister said., “I want you to get a GB,” referring to the Golden Buzzer.
As Heidi asked her how it felt to be a 9-year-old on the “biggest stage in the world,” She replied that she felt “scared but excited.” She planned to call her grandma first if the audition went well as she has believed in the singer’s talent to succeed on this big stage. Pranysqa listed old-school artists like Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, and Tina Turner as her favorite artists. She added that Heidi and Sofia Vergara are her favorite judges.
“I did not expect that, but you know what I’m going to do now”
Pranysqa performed, “River Deep, Mountain High ” by Ike & Tina Turner. Her voice, both animated and soulful as she started, showcased a very big voice. The most impressive part of her vocal is how she hit the soaring high notes. It may be cliched to say, but the voice that comes out of her at such a young age i unbelievable. In the latter half of the performance, she hit several impressive runs. It was one of the better young singer auditions that have appeared on AGT in years. The performance gave me shades of Season 12 runner-up Angelica Hale.
The judges are in awe with Heidi exclaiming, “oh my gosh,” and Simon mumbling “my god.” Heidi said, “I did not expect that, but you know what I’m going to do now because I honestly don’t want to hear what Howie, Simon, or Sofia have to say. I want you to call your grandmother and say Heidi Klum pushed the Golden Buzzer for you.” Heidi hit the buzzer as Pranysqa and her family are in shock. Heidi joins them on stage. Pranysqa was at a loss for words when asked how she felt.
Pranysqa was the audition of the night. A well-deserved Golden Buzzer. She capped an overall lackluster night of auditions, however. But I did also enjoy sand artist, Young-Min, and Attraction Juniors storytelling shadow dancing act.
