Former Bachelorette contestant Tyler Gwozdz, who competed on Hannah Brown’s season, has died following a suspected overdose reports TMZ.
According to Boca Raton PD, officers and paramedics rushed to a home on Monday, January 13 … responding to a 911 call for a possible drug overdose. Consequently, EMTs transported Gwozdz to a hospital where he was admitted to the ICU.
Online records list his date of death as Jan. 22. He was 29.
Gwozdz’s body is with the Palm Beach Medical Examiner’s Office, a spokesperson for the office confirmed to People. According to the spokesperson, an autopsy will take a minimum of eight to 12 weeks to complete.
A spokesperson for the Boca Raton Police Services Department told People that they “responded to a medical overdose” involving Gwozdz on Jan. 13. They added, “the case is an active ongoing investigation.”
In a 911 call obtained by People, a woman could be heard attempting to locate Narcan, a nasal spray that can help reverse an opioid overdose, after breaking down the door to the bathroom that Gwozdz was inside. She successfully turned him on his back.
After nabbing the first one-on-one date with Hannah, Gwozdz mysteriously left the production after the third week. “Tyler G. had to leave, and that’s upsetting, because I really enjoyed my date with him,” she said in a voice over during the episode. That was the last mention of Tyler from anyone involved with the show.
Rumors about WHY he left the show began almost immediately. Entertainment Tonight reported rumors that Tyler did not leave the show voluntarily. He was removed by production “amid online comments,” reportedly. In particular there was a Reddit thread regarding past behavior toward an ex-girlfriend, that claimed he emotionally abused her, spitting on her after a fight.
When asked by ET about her connection with Tyler during their date, however, Hannah didn’t imply anything was off. “I think the date went really good,” she shared. “We didn’t see our conversation the first night, but he just has a gentle spirit about him.”
Gwozdz’s Bachelorette profile says he was a sales manager when he was cast and he aspired to be a psychologist, describing himself as an entrepreneur who’d launched a dream therapy analysis biz.
