This years Big Brother house is bigger than ever with an additional 155 square ft. of living space. Houseguests will enjoy a modern “steel” beach house where the downstairs depicts the sea and the upstairs is all about the sky. Entertainment Tonight has your first look at the Big Brother 17 house!
“I wanted it to be a house of steel and glass,” Big Brother production designer Scott Storey told ET regarding the house’s transparent and reflective surfaces. “It plays well with Big Brother and the ‘no place to hide’ concept.”
The theme of the house is “Steel Wave,” a modern take on the summer beach house.
The downstairs living area – complete with a 22-foot-tall towering steel wave – represents the ocean, while the upstairs – including the Head of Household room – signifies the sky. The bedrooms have various themes, including the power of “steel” (a.k.a. cars) done comic-book style and an upscale nightclub under the sea.
The layout of the house remains the same as in years past, though one thing is different: There’s more square footage – 155 to exact.
The extra square footage comes from the addition of “a big metal platform, which we’re calling The Bridge,” explained Storey. The new addition has clear floors the houseguests can see through.

Of course, more house means more cameras. There are 80 HD cameras installed, four more than last season.

Big Brother 17 two-night premiere airs Wednesday, June 24 and Thursday June 26 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT). The Thursday edition, featuring the live eviction show hosted by Julie Chen, moves to its regular time period on July 2 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT). The Sunday broadcast premieres June 28 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT).

Big Brother After Dark premieres Thursday, June 25 at a special time (12:00 AM-3:00 AM, ET/PT). Beginning Friday, June 26, BIG BROTHER AFTER DARK’s regularly scheduled air times will be: Monday and Tuesday at 11:00 PM-2:00 AM, ET/PT; Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 12:00 AM-2:00 AM, ET/PT; and Thursday at 1:00 AM-3:00 AM, ET/PT.
Meet the BIG BROTHER Houseguests Before Anyone Else: Those who sign up for CBS All Access before the show’s premiere will have access to special features, including the first-ever live-stream of each of the Houseguests’ first interviews on Tuesday, June 16 at 11:00 AM, ET/8:00 AM, PT, giving them the chance to meet the Houseguests before anyone else.
