Caleb has called himself the first true “rock” winner of American Idol. But this sounds like your typical Hot Adult Contemporary track. Pop rock all the way. Which is pretty much what I expected from Caleb, because I wasn’t buying that the label would allow him to release a true hard rock song.
ETA: Ohhh. Yes. I am hearing a hint of autotune in there. Which makes no sense, because Caleb doesn’t need it. Or is it some weird concession to a more “modern” i.e. “techno” sound?
We’ll see if Interscope attempts to promote the song to radio.
According to Windmills, “Only One” is co-written by Sam Hollander (co-wrote 3 songs on Daughtry’s current album and Alex & Sierra’s single, “Scarecrow”), Josh Berman and Caleb.
Hollander also co-wrote David Archuleta’s “Somethin ‘Bout Love” and co-wrote for OAR, Boys Like Girls, and more.
