Camila Cabello, Gwen Stefani Join The Voice 22, No Kelly Clarkson

NBC has announced the panelists for The Voice season 22 airing this fall. As fans suspected, Kelly Clarkson will NOT sit on the coaches panel this fall. Blake Shelton and John Legend will return, however. Blake’s wife, Gwen Stefani comes back after a two season hiatus. And rounding out the panel is…drum roll…Camila Cabello!

On Friday, Gwen announced her return to the panel with a cute Tik Tok meme alongside Blake and John…but no Kelly. Now the mystery is solved as Camila adds her voice to the chorus singing Mika’s “Grace Kelly.”

Camila Cabello got her start in the music business as a teen auditioning for Simon Cowell’s X Factor USA in 2012. Although she passed her audition as a solo, eventually she was placed in a five-member girl group, Fifth Harmony. While the quintet did not win and finished in third place, they went on to become the short-lived competition’s most successful act. Fifth Harmony released several albums, and hit songs such as “Worth It” and “Work From Home.”

The Cuban born singer moved on to a solo career in 2016, after which she released pop hits such as “Crying in the Club” and duet “Senorita” with Shawn Mendes. Fifth Harmony broke up the following year.

Camila served as a Battle Round advisor on The Voice season 21 for Team John Legend.

Kelly Clarkson: “I literally said no to everything this summer”

Speaking of Kelly. The OG American Idol alum has a ton of jobs! She has been hinting for awhile that she wanted to cut back her schedule for now to spend more time with her kids, River (7) and Remy (5).

Before she signed on to co-host American Song Contest, the singer said backstage at her afternoon talk show The Kelly Clarkson Show, “I’ve decided this year there’s just gonna be a couple changes for me but I can’t say here.” She added, “There’s a couple of things happening. I’ve been able to make more time just for me and my kiddos and still be able to work, just where we can get away on weekends and like really do some fun stuff with my kids.”

“They only want to hang out with you for so long. And that’s now so I got to take advantage of that. So I’m really excited to have more time with them. I mean, I have a ton of time in the morning, but I’m selfish. I love them they’re fun.”

In an interview with Elvis Duran on Thursday (May 11) Kelly announced she planned to take the summer off. “I turned 40 and…you know what I’m giving myself for 40?” she told Elvis, “I literally said NO to everything this summer. I will not do anything this summer…I am taking time.”

For now, The Voice is only airing in the fall. NBC cancelled the spring cycle to make way for American Song Contest, which Kelly co-hosted with Snoop Dogg. Unfortunately, the ratings were soft and its return next year is undetermined.
