Carrie Underwood belts out “Alone” as she opens for Guns N’ Roses

American Idol fans were treated to a blast form the past when season 4 winner Carrie Underwood performed her game-changing competition song, “Alone” by Heart during her concert on Saturday (Aug 6).

Reprising the monster 80’s rock anthem made sense, as the country superstar opened for Guns N’ Roses on Saturday (Aug 6) at Croix-Bleue Medavie Stadium in Moncton, NB, Canada.

When Carrie performed “Alone” on American Idol, it proved that she was more than just a country singer, and she could belt a rock n’ roll classic, matching some of the best rock vocalists out there. The Nashville singer has always been a hard rock fan, and when she finally shared the stage with Axl Rose a few years ago, it was a dream come true for her.

“Just a country girl living out some rockstar dreams…”

Later, Carrie returned to the stage during Guns N’ Roses main set, joining them for duets of “Sweet Child of Mine” and “Paradise City.” Saturday night’s show is the first of three dates the Carrie is scheduled to play with Guns N’ Roses this summer. Next, she and the band hit Montreal on Tuesday (Aug. 8) and then her home turf Nashville on August 26.

“Just a country girl living out some rockstar dreams…” Carrie penned on Instagram alongside a gallery of photos. “I want to say a HUGE thanks to @gunsnroses for having us out on tour, as well as their amazing fans! I was super nervous playing for another band’s crowd (of a completely different genre, no less) but you all made us feel so welcome!!!”
