Nominations for the 2015 CMT Music Awards, country music’s answer to the MTV Video Music Awards, were announced this morning, and American Idol and The Voice alums and judges are represented in the nominations. At the top of the heap is superstar Carrie Underwood, whose fanbase will compete against itself in the Video Of The Year and Female Video Of The Year categories, and picked up an additional nomination for Collaborative Video Of The Year for a total of 5 nominations. Season 2 VoiceRaeLynn picked up 2 nominations, for Breakthrough Video Of The Year (a category fellow Voice alum Cassadee Pope won last year) and Female Video Of The Year. Season 4 Voice alums The Swon Brothers meanwhile picked up a nomination for Duo Video Of The Year. Neither of the 2 Voice alums nominated won their respective seasons. On the judge/coach side, Blake Shelton and Keith Urban both picked up nominations too. Say what you will about the CMT Music Awards, but they at least found a way to nominate a really wide swath of female acts in country music, which will hopefully mean lots of performances by female acts.
Here’s the full list of nominees for the fan-voted 2015 CMT Music Awards, which will broadcast live on CMT and CMT.com on Wednesday, June 10, starting at 8p Eastern, 7p Central. No host has been announced yet, but here’s hoping CMT will tap Kellie Pickler, who is set to star in a CMT reality show that will start airing in September, for the role.

The voting period for the Video of the Year category will commence on June 10, 2015 at the end of the Video of the Year Finalist special airing on CMT which is anticipated to be at 8:00 AM ET and shall continue through and end (to be announced during the live broadcast of the 2015 CMT Music Awards show) on June 10, 2015 at or around the 10:00 PM ET timeline (the “Voting Period 2”), subject to change in VMN’s sole discretion:
