Carrie Underwood’s house fire started in the family garage, but was quickly extinguished

Carrie Underwood’s house caught on fire Sunday night (June 16).

Dinah Wade, a spokesperson with Williamson County, Tennessee, Fire and Rescue, said a 10,000 gallon water tank the American Idol season 4 winner installed at the home was used by fire crews to extinguish the fire, which crews say began around 9:42 p.m.

According to The Tennessean, an off-road UTV caught fire and spread to the singer’s garage, said Wade. Investigators are working to determine if the fire was sparked by a UTV parked next to the garage.

Carrie and her husband Mike Fisher and two children Isaiah (9) and Jacob (5), plus her three pets inside the home were able to escape without injuries. “One of the pets would not leave the homeowner’s side,” Wade said.

When fire crews arrived at the scene, flames were coming from the garage. Brad Cafarelli, a spokesman for Carrie, said the fire was quickly contained, thanks to the water already on the premises. There was no fire damage to the primary home, although smoke could be smelled inside the house.

It took several hours to put out the fire as pockets of fire were detected inside the wall. Wade said there is no cost estimate for the damages at this time. The home remains intact and Carrie and her family are able to remain safely inside, said Wade.

The home was sold for $5.5 million in 2008. It was appraised at a little more than $11 million in 2024, records show.

Although everybody is safe and Carrie’s living quarters are intact, it must have been a traumatizing experience for all. Carrie has not spoken out on the fire, as of Monday night (June 17).

And, of course, being there for my girl, Hillary, was a true joy! There is no one who deserves it more! I am SO proud of my friend and cowriter for the mark she has made on music and I am beyond blessed to have learned so much from her over the years. Cheers to Hillary and to all the inductees!!! @son”
