Casey James is Excited to Go Country – On The Scene at Idol Tour Rehearsals

Lindsey Parker of Yahoo Music interviewed Casey James recently as the Season 9 Idols rehearsed for their upcoming tour. (Read more HERE)

Casey wouldn’t spill his tour songs, but he did reveal that his set will include songs he did on the show.  He talked about his personal connection to John Lennon’s “Jealous Guy”–in fact, the song cuts so deep, he’s not going to be singing it on tour.  He’ll be singing 3 songs and a duet. He swears he picked “Mrs Robinson” on Movie Night because he liked it, not to tweak Kara Dioguardi or his fanbase.

The discussion turned to the recent meetings Casey had in Nashville.  When asked if  he’d be going the country route, Casey answered:

“I would love to, and the reason is, is that these dayss…Country music is a big wide open space for you to do what you want to do if you’re within a certain realm…I think that will allow me to do what I want to do, if I go to Nashville. They are going to let me play the guitar, they’re going to let me be edgy and rocky and a little bit bluesy, a little bit old school, a little bit new school, and my country roots–which I was born and raised listening to Merle Haggard and George Jones–all of that wrapped up into one big ball is who I am musically, and I’m not going to be able to do that anywhere else. So that’s what I’m hoping for.”
