Tonight two new episodes of The Celebrity Apprentice airs on NBC. Which two celebrities will Mr. Trump send packing tonight? Read a live recap of the episodes here.
Last week we said goodbye to Shawn Johnson and Lorenzo Lamas, and nine contestants are left standing. Which two will be fired tonight. Let’s find out.
The contestants gather in the hotel suite after Lorenzo was fired. Sig is disappointed they lost a strong leader, but he knows he has to step up soon since he is the only one on his team who hasn’t been a project manager yet. Kate is also frustrated with Vivica repeatedly naming her the weakest member of the team.
The contestants meet Mr. Trump, as well as Eric and Don Jr. They learn their task is to host a themed boat tour around New York City. Sig will be the project manager for Team Vortex. Since he is the captain of a ship in his daily life, this was an obvious choice. Brande will be the project manager for Team Infinity.
Sig feels a lot of pressure to do well. He thinks people are expecting too much from him since it’s a boat task, but he admits to not knowing much about entertainment. Geraldo starts rambling about highlighting the history of the tour, and Kate and Vivica are frustrated with Geraldo’s always steamrolling his ideas. However, Kate does finally speak up and tell him that the entertainment factor is more important.
At Team Infinity, Brande is delegating tasks. In a confessional, she admits that she’s worried Kenya and Ian will try to sabotage her because they don’t like her. Leeza voices the same concern in her confessional, but says she will support Brande as much as she can.
Team Vortex decides their theme will be “The Sexiest Catch.” Its risqué, and they add onto that with bringing Hooters to cater on the ship. Kate is worried and says in her confessional that having Hooters girls serving the people on the ship might be too edgy, especially since they don’t know what types of people will be boarding the ship. Sig is convinced this will work for them and simply says that sex sells.
Team Inifinty contemplates a Mardi Gras theme, but Johnny and Brande have reservations about it. Brande then decides to change the concept; they will not be doing the Mardi Gras theme. Ian is frustrated that they have to start all over. Brande then decides to just have a generic New York party theme. Kenya then suggests her singing on the boat, and Brande agrees and thinks it’s best to feed into Kenya’s narcissism.
It’s tour day and the contestants only have two hours to prepare. Sig hopes that the right types of customers board the boat so that they won’t mind Hooters girls serving them. The bartenders arrive late, and Sig completely freaks out on them. He yells and curses at them to start getting ready as soon as they arrive, which unsettles everyone.
At Team Infinity, the tour has already started. Leeza steps up and does a great job as the tour guide. However, Geraldo isn’t doing as great of a job being the tour guide at Team Vortex. While passing the new World Trade Center, Geraldo shouts out “Screw the terrorists!” This bothers Kate. The tour is supposed to be fun and lighthearted, and she notes Geraldo’s comment may have put a damper on the tour.
Everyone on the Team Infinity tour is dancing and having a great time. Leeza says in her confessional that Brande did a great job and she made the right choice to change the concept. Next, Kenya sings her song with her own backup dancers. Everyone watches Kenya sing, which is very awkward and embarrassing. But the people on the boat seem to enjoy it, whether they’re laughing with her or at her. One girl just stares at her in disbelief. Brande then decides it’s enough of Kenya’s strange performance when she gets on the floor and madly dances around. Brande forms a conga line and everyone is having fun again.
At Team Vortex, the people on the boat aren’t having as much fun as Team Vortex, but no one seems miserable either. However, there is a solemn moment as they pass by the Coast Guard. Sig notes in a confessional how the Coast Guard has saved the lives of many of his friends before, and they are the charity he is representing.
The contestants gather in the boardroom. Mr. Trump tells Sig that he had a huge advantage since the task dealt with boats and asks if he should be fired if they lose. Sig disagrees and says that they were at a disadvantage since there are less people on Team Vortex. He was happy with his team and the job they did, even if their theme was risky. Next Mr. Trump talks to Brande, and she notes everyone did a great job. However, she says that Leeza and Johnny were her best teammates. Brande then tells Mr. Trump about her decision to change the theme and says she has no regrets.
So which team won? Don Jr. tells Team Infinity that they created a great party atmosphere, but the theme was confusing and half of the customers were bothered by Kenya’s performance. Eric tells Team Vortex that they created a good atmosphere, but a lot of people were bothered by Geraldo’s job as a tour guide. In addition, a lot of women did not like the fact that Hooters girls catered the event. They felt excluded and thought the boat tour was targeted just for men. Mr. Trump then reveals that Team Infinity won. Brande wins money for her charity (Make a Wish Foundation), and she asks Mr. Trump if he’ll give money to the Coast Guard. Mr. Trump agrees and says he’ll donate money for Sig’s charity before Team Infinity is dismissed and can go celebrate in the hotel suite.
Mr. Trump talks to Kate first and asks who should be fired. She says it should be Sig due to the Hooters girls serving the guests being his decision. Mr. Trump asks Vivica who should be fired, and she agrees it should be Sig. Sig says he wants to stay in the competition, but Mr. Trump says that a lot of the responsibilities fell on Sig. Mr. Trump fires Sig Hansen. That was the right decision, even though Geraldo could have been blamed for the loss too since his job as a tour guide was panned by the guests. Also, it’s interesting how Sig was fired on the episode when he finally got an ample amount of screentime. He was pretty invisible for most of the season.
The next day, the contestants gather atop Trump International Tower to meet Mr. Trump, Eric, and Don Jr. The contestants think there will be another change-up of the teams now that Team Vortex only has three contestants left. They are right, and Kenya joins Team Vortex. Don Jr. tells them the next task, which is to create an interactive themed environment that highlights Trump’s newest luxury resort the Trump National Doral in Miami, Florida. Ian will be the project manager for Team Infinity and Kate will be the project manager for Team Vortex.
At Team Vortex, Geraldo comes up with an idea to create a mascot for the hotel. Kate agrees, but Vivica and Kenya have reservations about it and don’t think a mascot will suit Trump’s brand. Kate also wants Vivica and Kenya to shop for props, which bothers Kenya. She thinks she would be better off helping create their presentation. At Team Infinity, Ian is delegating tasks. He believes in his team, but his prepared to throw anyone under the bus if needed.
Team Infinity gets to work on creating their interactive themed environment. Ian boasts about his creativity and says that that is what he excels in, but the next scene hilariously shows how confusing his description of his vision is. Leeza and Brande are especially confused and have no idea what he’s talking about. Ian then sends Johnny and Brande to go shopping for props.
Vivica and Kenya are out shopping for Team Vortex, and Kenya is still upset that she was sent shopping instead of offering her viewpoint in the creative process. In a confessional, Vivica thinks Kenya is doing well as their new team member, but is wary of her since she knows Kenya will stab anyone in the back. Vivica’s feeling were right as Kenya calls Kate later and tells her the reason they have not returned from shopping is because of Vivica wanting to stop at another store. Vivica says it was only a five-minute stop and is not the reason they have not returned yet. Vivica is upset that Kenya threw her under the bus like that.
It’s presentation day. The contestants are at Trump’s golf resort setting up their interactive themed environments. At Team Infinity, the team wants to move a sign that says “Doral” toward the front, but Ian objects. Brande calls Ian a control freak in her confessional.
Eric, Don Jr., and an executive show up at Team Vortex’s interactive themed environment. Kenya shows them their display, as well as the Blue Monster mascot they created. However, Kenya does not think their display looks good and believes she should’ve stayed behind. As well, Kate tells Eric, Don Jr., and the executive about the drama between Vivica and Kenya.
At Team Infinity, Ian has made their display as interactive as possible and even brings in a golf professional. However, he does not know the details about the hotel and fails to answer a question about the size of the ballroom. Brande says that she spent all night studying to make sure she could answer any question given, and she steps in and is able to answer the executive’s question.
Boardroom time. Mr. Trump asks Kate how she did, and she talks about the Blue Monster mascot they created. He talks to Kenya next and she speaks highly of her team. Mr. Trump asks Kate who her weakest member was, and Kate notes there was a problem between Kenya and Vivica. Mr. Trump asks them about it. Vivica tells Mr. Trump that they were late and was angered that Kenya threw her under the bus, but Kenya asserts that they did not need to stop at the store Vivica wanted to. The two of them get heated and speak over one another about it.
Mr. Trump talks to Team Infinity next. Brande subtly disses Kenya by saying that a cloud has been lifted off their team. The team praises Ian’s job as project manager, even though he could be a bit too intense and his ideas are hard to grasp at first. Mr. Trump asks Ian who is weakest team member is, and he calls out Johnny for not being as strong as he thinks he can be.
So which team won? Mr. Trump reveals that Don Jr. and Eric made the choice this time and that their decision wasn’t even close. Don Jr. tells Team Infinity that they did a great job overall, but they missed the mark on the kid environment. Eric tells Team Vortex that they did a great job with highlighting the family aspect and they liked the Blue Monster mascot for kids, but their display wasn’t even interactive and didn’t highlight the luxuriousness of the resort. As a result, they lost and Team Infinity won.
Mr. Trump talks to Kate and she is shocked they lost. Mr. Trump tells her that they missed the mark on luxury. Kate thinks the drama between Vivica and Kenya harmed their team, and Mr. Trump asks Kate who is stronger between Kenya and Vivica. She says Vivica, but Kenya speaks up and says that she won a task against Vivica when they were both project managers. It gets really heated between Vivica and Kenya and they start talking over one another again. Mr. Trump asks Kate who should be fired, and she says it should be Kenya and that the team would be more positive without her. Kenya stands up for herself and says that the team already lost multiple tasks in a row without her. Kenya then says that Kate should be fired, but Kenya and Vivica are still going at it. Kenya then says that she does not want to go home, and she brazenly kisses up to Mr. Trump by saying that his family is “The First Family of America.”
Don Jr. calls Kenya out on her inconsistent comments about taking credit and then placing blame on others when it benefits her. The comments then get more personal between Kenya and Vivica. Kenya says she never had plastic surgery like Vivica has, but Vivica quickly retorts and says that many factors of Kenya’s appearance are “fake as hell.” Kenya then criticizes Kate and says that Kate doesn’t understand luxury. However, before Kate can decide who to bring back to the boardroom with her, Mr. Trump has already made up his mind. Mr. Trump fires Kate Gosselin. He simply says that she was the project manager and hints that is was about time she got fired anyway. Kate felt blindsided and didn’t really think she would have been fired. Kate could have been held responsible for the team’s loss as project manager, but I did not like how Mr. Trump thinks he had no choice but to fire Kate since he felt it was already her time to go.
Next week the drama between Kenya and Vivica reaches another level, involving some kind of scandal involving Vivica’s twitter account that she claims Kenya hacked.
