Chris Daughtry told Ryan Seacrest on his radio show this morning that completely removing himself from touring and writing to spend time with his family, helped the inspiration to come flooding in when he and his band Daughtry began the process of making the new album. It was the longest break he had in 5 years.
“I think a lot of it just came from not doing the same thing I’ve been doing for awhile. I think getting away from it and just completely removing myself allowed me to just go in fresh. Most of the material on the record is way more upbeat, way more positive lyrically than the last two records, ” said Chris.
Ryan played a bit of the new single, “Crawling Back to You”, a song he wrote 3 years ago with Marti Frederiksen that never made his last album “It was completely different, we kept going back to it–we just thought there was something really special about the song.” They re-wrote the chorus, making it “more major and uplifting” and a 1st single was born!
The title of Daughtry’s new album, Break The Spell, is taken from a song on the record and will be released on November 21. (Via Ryan Seacrest.com)
