Now that the World Health Organization officially classified the coronavirus (COVID-19) as a pandemic, tons of concerts, sporting events, TV show tapings, and more have been cancelled or postponed. If you have tickets to a live event scheduled for the next couple of weeks, you better check it. It’s probably cancelled.
Here’s the big stuff that has gone dark:
Broadway has dimmed the lights. The Broadway League announced that performances will resume the week of April 13, 2020.
The NBA and NHL have suspended their current season. MLB has cancelled spring training. The college basketball tournament March Madness, has been CANCELLED.
OMG. Disneyland, Disney World and Universal Studios Hollywood have all been closed through the end of March.
SXSW conference in Austin has been cancelled, along with a ton of entertainment and industry conferences. Variety has a full list.
The GLAAD Media Awards scheduled for March 19, are cancelled. American Idol’s Adam Lambert was nominated for an award, and was scheduled to perform.
The May Upfronts have been cancelled. CBS, ABC, NBC, FOX and a slew of cable and streaming channels will make presentations to advertisers via video conference. News will still come out of those presentations. But without the big splashy New York events.
TV Shows Taping Without Audiences, Suspending Production
The Bachelorette has suspended production. No word on whether the reality show will be able to keep its May 18 premiere date (probably not!)
FOR NOW (fingers crossed! So You Think You Can Dance auditions will GO ON AS PLANNED.
#SYTYCD Auditions will go on as planned.
Miami: March 19 & 20
NYC: March 28 & 29
LA: April 4 & 5There will be additional health and safety precautions in place. pic.twitter.com/mUnOmJoiAR

America’s Got Talent finally scrapped their live audiences, but is still taping. That should be interesting. A few auditions with studio audiences, and the rest without? That should present an interesting editing challenge. ETA: Fremantle has suspended AGT taping for the time being.
American Idol was scheduled to tape semi-final episodes at the end of March. But reportedly, they plan to tape without an audience. It’s worth noting that both Lionel Richie (Over 60) and Katy Perry (pregnant) are members of at risk groups. Would they bail on Idol all together? Joy Behar is taking an hiatus from The View. She feels fine, but at 78, she’s taking the CDC advice to stay at home.
The Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards scheduled for March 22 in Los Angeles has been postponed.
The Late Night talk shows are dark, including Tonight, Late Night, Late Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, etc.
The Kelly Clarkson Show has cancelled her live audiences. UPDATE: Kelly has some shows in the can, but NBC Universal has suspended production on her show.
Live with Kelly & Ryan, The View, Tamron Hall and more have also cancelled their live shows.
CBS reality shows Survivor and The Amazing Race have suspended production. Survivor is postponing filming for the next two seasons.
The Academy of Country Music Awards scheduled for April 5 are postponed until September. The iHeartmedia Awards are also postponed.
Music Events and Concerts
THIS LIST IS BY NO MEANS COMPLETE! With so many cancellations, the twice weekly concert schedule posts will also be suspended at least through the end of March. If I missed anything, and I probably did, add it to comments.
Coachella and Stagecoach have been cancelled. Carrie Underwood, Laci Kaye Booth, Gabby Barrett, Morgan Wallen and Rae Lynn were set for the latter.
Keep your eye on the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. They haven’t closed their doors entirely yet. But with so many productions postponing or cancelling, I bet they go dark. Right now, they are accepting refunds from ticket holders and are working with artists to “evaluate possible postponements.”
For all other Opry House events, we are working with artists to evaluate possible postponements and/or rescheduled shows. Guests will receive updated information as soon as we have it. We thank everyone for their patience and understanding.

Musicians who earn their money on the road may have tough times ahead. I had a short conversation with The Voice 11 winner Sundance Head on Twitter. He’s really worried he won’t be able to earn a living.
The Music business is taking a huge hit as I’m sure other industries are as well. Financially it is very scary. I hope this doesn’t last long I’ll have to sell my body to the night!!!!????

Diana DeGarmo and Ace Young JUST opened previews of their dream musical, Hit Her With Skates a few days ago in Chicago. Now, the performances are on hold until April 21.
Due to Covid-19 Diana’s Chicago-based musical, Hit Her With the Skates, has been suspended. The plan is to resume performances April 21st at the Royal George Theatre.

The epic coming together of American Idol winners 7 & 8, David Cook and Kris Allen respectively, will have to wait a little longer. Their Utah concert is cancelled. ETA: David and Kris’ European Tour is also cancelled

The remainder of Blake Shelton’s tour, with opener American Idol and DWTS alum Lauren Alaina, has been cancelled.

The C2C European Country Music Festival was set to begin Friday. But with new European travel restrictions in place by the federal government, and a few big names dropping out, the tour is postponed. American Idol’s Gabby Barrett was on the bill.
