Ann McGregor, the mom of the late Glee star, Cory Monteith, reached out to fans via twitter. She lives in Victoria, British Columbia, where Cory grew up.
After Cory died on July 16 in a Vancouver hotel room, following a deadly cocktail of heroin and alcohol, Richard Monteith, who identified himself as Cory’s cousin, claimed to know McGregor’s intent for Cory’s ashes (the actor was cremated a few days after his death).
Mom set the record straight.
Ick to distant attention-seeking relatives coming out of the woodwork for their own, self-involved reasons. I also am annoyed by “sources” who claim to know how Cory’s co-star and girlfriend, Lea Michele and others close to him are feeling, or what the state of their emotions were in the aftermath of his death. Allow Cory’s loved ones to grieve in peace. Really.
Speaking of Lea Michele, she’s back on twitter, although in a limited fashion. Earlier this week, she tweeted thanks to fans for their love and support and posted a beautiful photo of the couple on the beach. A few days later, Lea let fans know she was back at work.
I imagine going back to work will be both a hard and healing experience. Stay strong, Lea.
And Matthew Morrison, who plays teacher Will Schuster on Glee appeared on Live with Kelly and Michael on Friday and shared that after learning about Cory’s death, he spent all night on the phone speaking to each of the cast members. When host Kelly Ripa asked how everyone was doing, Matt replied, “The best we possibly can be.”
But, he added, “The good thing was that when this happens, we are such a family—-we really came together.”
“We all just reached out to each other,” said Matt, “and it was a bonding time but it was incredibly hard.”
