Taylor Swift roars back onto the top of the Billboard 200 chart giving us numbers we have not seen for a while. Shaking off her darker “reputation” era, “Lover” is more pastel and candy floss while still tackling some serious issues. The album moved 867K equivalent albums and a massive 679K in traditional album sales. This is the largest sales week since “reputation” opened with 1.238M equivalent albums including 1.216M traditional albums on November 16th, 2017. Back when “reputation” was released, Taylor did not allow it to stream during its first few weeks. This is her sixth number one album and sixth with at least 500K in sales in a single week (only woman to do so).
“Lover” accounted for 27% of all album sales last week (2.487M in total).
As Monday was a long weekend, information about the Hot 100 and the rest of the BB200 is delayed.
