Welcome to week four of season twenty-four of Dancing with the Stars. Tonight is “Most Memorable Year” and you know what that means- get the tissues ready. We are about to get personal with our stars, from the sad and tragic, to the happy and inspirational. This theme always ends up bringing out some of the best routines, as the celebrities use personal history to tell their stories through dance. Whether it be a contemporary piece or a cha-cha-cha, tonight’s dances are going to be special.
Last week, Charo & Keo were the second couple eliminated from the show. Nick & Peta were in jeopardy. Is his time up? Or will someone else, say Mr. T end up walking the plank? And which lower scoring couple from last week will rebound and up their scores? Will Normani & Val once again be on top of the leaderboard when all is said and done or will someone new take top points?
Let’s take a look at last week’s poll results to see where MJ readers stand heading into tonight. Normani & Val sit on top of the favorite partnership poll with 27%. It is neck and neck after that, with David & Lindsay at 15%, Heather & Maks (Alan) at 12%, and Rashad & Emma at 12%. The rest are at 10% and below but it was a very close vote last week. It wasn’t so close for your favorite routine though. That honor went to three specific couples. Normani & Val‘s foxtrot had 33%, Heather & Maks (Alan)‘s tango had 21%, and Nancy & Artem‘s samba had 15%. Three couples also took the least favorite routine poll, with Mr. T & Kym‘s foxtrot at the top with 28%. Erika & Gleb‘s jive had 24%, and Bonner & Sharna‘s charleston had 18%. So it looks like voters are quite torn on who their ultimate favorites are but know exactly which dances they did and did not like.
The third episode earned a “B-” grade. That’s the lowest of the season thus far. Now, onto your predictions for tonight’s third elimination. You guys have it down to three. Mr. T & Kym with 57%, Erika & Gleb with 22%, and Nick & Peta with 10%. I want to say Mr. T is the easy pick considering he is the weakest dancer left, but Erika continues to just be there without making too much of an impression good or bad. That could mean trouble for her. And Nick, who I think improved a lot last week, continues to score low with the judges. After appearing in jeopardy last week, was he given some extra votes by viewers and was it enough? We shall see. For now, I will agree and say either Mr. T or Erika end up being booted.
So, let’s get personal with our stars and see what was their most memorable years and how they portray those years in their respective dances…
Normani & Val – Rumba
2012 for Normani. It was the year Fifth Harmony was formed. Normani starts off singing and is soon joined by Fifth Harmony live as she goes to dance with Val. A really gorgeous rumba on display here. The biggest compliment I can pay to it is that it looks like one of those dances you see by two professionals when a musical artist guest performs on the show. And that’s probably the best compliment I can give because to say a dance looks professional in week four means it was aces from start to finish. – Watch the Performance VIDEO
Len calls Normani a terrific dancer. He tells Val he wants to see more content now that Normani’s traveling is over. Julianne says she is a powerhouse. Bruno felt Val was almost unnecessary in the dance- it was Normani in command. Carrie Ann disagrees with Len and felt Normani’s pride and empowerment in the dance. And guess what? The lift police are back YET AGAIN. Carrie Ann reads a super boring and unnecessary definition of what a lift is and says we as the audience can vote as we want but she judges a certain way. I guess that means a point deduction in her score for Normani.
You can vote for Normani by calling 1 800 868 3410 during the show and for 60 minutes after the broadcast in each time zone. You can also vote online at ABC.COM and/or on FACEBOOK (voting is combined via this method) from the start of the East Coast show till 8PM Eastern the following day.

Nick & Peta – Rumba
2016 for Nick. It was the year he found love on that reality show known as The Bachelor. Okay, so that dance was meant to duplicate the idea behind the reality show as a group of women try to get Nick’s attention- this time, via the rumba. Clever. The hip action the rumba requires was a bit awkward at times. In truth, if someone isn’t a natural dancer, trying to move those hips in a sexy manner that is required in a rumba always looks a bit funny. No major hiccups on display here which is a plus and the dance itself ends with a big kiss to Vanessa, Nick’s actual fiance from the show. – Watch the Performance VIDEO
Julianne says it was Nick’s best dance. Bruno felt Nick definitely connected and felt it tonight. He tells him to be careful not to stall his hip action. Carrie Ann disagrees with Julianne. She felt the beginning was awkward but thought it was better once the dance was just between Nick and Peta. Len says there is still a way to go but Nick’s best dance so far.
You can vote for Nick by calling 1 800 868 3409 during the show and for 60 minutes after the broadcast in each time zone. You can also vote online at ABC.COM and/or on FACEBOOK (voting is combined via this method) from the start of the East Coast show till 8PM Eastern the following day.

Nancy & Artem – Foxtrot
Nancy’s backstory is all about motherhood and how difficult it was to have kids after many miscarriages. I didn’t hear a specific year in the package. Aww, that was sweet. It was a lovely foxtrot, gliding around the floor, and sure to make Len happy with all the technical aspects he loves to see. Nancy is definitely coming around to matching the performance with the dancing and putting together a complete package each week. You could tell that dance meant a lot to her. – Watch the Performance VIDEO
Bruno loved the flow of the dance. He warns her not to use her top line when she does turns. Carrie Ann finds Nancy’s vulnerability inspiring. Len liked the parts in hold. He feels Nancy has moved into being a front runner. Julianne agrees. She sees growth.
You can vote for Nancy by calling 1 800 868 3408 during the show and for 60 minutes after the broadcast in each time zone. You can also vote online at ABC.COM and/or on FACEBOOK (voting is combined via this method) from the start of the East Coast show till 8PM Eastern the following day.

Mr. T & Kym – Waltz
1995 for Mr. T. It was the year he was diagnosed with cancer. Well, Kym gets a 10 for that dance. I mean, she had to work hard on that one. It was what we have all come to expect from Mr. T. A lot of slow movement, not much in the way of actual dancing, and Kym trying her best to make it look like a complete routine despite T’s issues. Lovely backstory and fitting dance to pay tribute to it but of course, when you look at his competition, Mr. T just doesn’t match up. – Watch the Performance VIDEO
Carrie Ann is crying (because of course). She says Mr. T is winning our hearts. Len loves the way Kym has worked with Mr. T. He admires him. Julianne says the beauty was in the performance. Bruno says Mr. T is a good man with a heart of gold.
You can vote for Mr. T by calling 1 800 868 3407 during the show and for 60 minutes after the broadcast in each time zone. You can also vote online at ABC.COM and/or on FACEBOOK (voting is combined via this method) from the start of the East Coast show till 8PM Eastern the following day.

Heather & Maks (Alan) – Cha-Cha-Cha
2015- the year Heather got married. That was fun. It had some great choreography, paying tribute to all the moments that made Heather’s most memorable year. From the wedding to a house to a baby all while doing a proper and high energy cha-cha-cha. I’m really enjoying this partnership that even though it came out of an injury, it hasn’t stunted Heather’s work on the show and has given Alan a chance to shine as a pro. – Watch the Performance VIDEO
Len calls it crisp, sharp, and loved the hip action. Julianne compliments the choreography and said Heather nailed it. Bruno loved the details and how in tune they were with one another. Carrie Ann calls it fantastic and feels like Heather gets more beautiful with every dance. A POINT FOR THE LIFT WILL BE DEDUCTED THOUGH.
You can vote for Heather by calling 1 800 868 3406 during the show and for 60 minutes after the broadcast in each time zone. You can also vote online at ABC.COM and/or on FACEBOOK (voting is combined via this method) from the start of the East Coast show till 8PM Eastern the following day.

David & Lindsay – Viennese Waltz
2016- the year the Cubs won the World Series and the year David retired. Solid job. Of course, this is a week where Lindsay had no choice but to choreograph something that wasn’t funny for David and I appreciate that. Let’s hope the trend continues next week. I say that because I think with more content and practice, David has the chance to make it very far on this show. This was a solid dance, just needed a bit more finesse in hold and on some of those turns. But it was a lovely tribute to his final year in sports and his new beginning with his family. – Watch the Performance VIDEO
Julianne calls it beautiful. She felt it could have been a little smoother though. Bruno says David has the vitality of a spring chicken. He agrees with Julianne that the dance needs to flow better. Carrie Ann also agrees with the flow but she loves the enthusiasm. Len just got up and did a whole baseball thing with signs but said nothing in response to the dance. Well, okay then.
You can vote for David by calling 1 800 868 3404 during the show and for 60 minutes after the broadcast in each time zone. You can also vote online at ABC.COM and/or on FACEBOOK (voting is combined via this method) from the start of the East Coast show till 8PM Eastern the following day.

Rashad & Emma – Contemporary
2006. Rashad’s story was all about his dad- the highs and lows of his relationship with his father. Aww. The moment at the end going over to hug his dad got to me. This was another contemporary in the same fashion as we have seen on the show many times before- lots of flailing around, lifts, emotion, etc.. With a contemporary dance, you either feel it or you don’t. If you don’t, the dance doesn’t do much for you. If you do, you feel yourself really taken back by it. I am part of the latter for this specific one. – Watch the Performance VIDEO
Bruno wasn’t watching dance- but art. Carrie Ann feels as though Rashad is a born dancer. Len loved the concept and emotion. He calls it fantastic. Julianne has no words for what she is feeling. But she then proceeds to have many words. LOL. She loved it.
You can vote for Rashad by calling 1 800 868 3411 during the show and for 60 minutes after the broadcast in each time zone. You can also vote online at ABC.COM and/or on FACEBOOK (voting is combined via this method) from the start of the East Coast show till 8PM Eastern the following day.

Erika & Gleb – Cha-Cha-Cha
1989- the year Erika moved to New York City and began to make her dreams come true. Alright. Two things. One- if you are going to dance with a group of pros to something as highly choreographed as Madonna, you better make sure you are dancing as well as everyone else. Be in-sync. Don’t fall behind. Second, this needed the equivalency of two cups of coffee. The energy needed to be higher for the entire thing. On a night of so many passionate emotional routines, I am fine with something fun but it needs to be exciting and on point. – Watch the Performance VIDEO
Carrie Ann loves that Erika doesn’t apologize for who she is. She felt the choreography pushed Erika. Len feels like Erika is on a plateau. He feels like Erika is doing the same thing each week. Julianne calls her fierce. She wants to see more hip action. Bruno says it was well done but still, refine the technique.
You can vote for Erika by calling 1 800 868 3405 during the show and for 60 minutes after the broadcast in each time zone. You can also vote online at ABC.COM and/or on FACEBOOK (voting is combined via this method) from the start of the East Coast show till 8PM Eastern the following day.

Simone & Sasha – Viennese Waltz
2000. The year Simone was adopted. Nice. Simple and to the point but effective. No real bells and whistles here. It was just Simone and Sasha simply dancing an elegant and beautiful viennese waltz with emotion. I am still waiting to be absolutely knocked out by a Simone routine because I feel like she needs to start knocking these routines in order to compete with the likes of Normani, Rashad, and a few others. But this was delightful to watch. – Watch the Performance VIDEO
Len calls it Simone’s best dance so far. Julianne has been waiting for this- the emotion to come through. Bruno says Simone was vulnerable but danced beautifully. Carrie Ann says the trust Simone had with Sasha tonight was great to see.
You can vote for Simone by calling 1 800 868 3412 during the show and for 60 minutes after the broadcast in each time zone. You can also vote online at ABC.COM and/or on FACEBOOK (voting is combined via this method) from the start of the East Coast show till 8PM Eastern the following day.

Bonner & Sharna – Foxtrot
2016. It was the year Bonner had his life threatening injury. Clever trick at the beginning having the “cowboy” Bonner tell the “dancer” Bonner to go do it. The dance was so much better than what we saw from Bonner last week. That being said, it wasn’t anything spectacular. A simple foxtrot and Sharna had quite a bit to do in that. What I mean is, my eyes went to Sharna a bit too many times and that’s a sign that the male dancer with her wasn’t exactly up to par. But if we are giving points for growth- from last week, definite improvement. – Watch the Performance VIDEO
Julianne says ballroom dances suit Bonner. She felt Bonner was leading Sharna. Bruno felt Bonner was more in control tonight. Carrie Ann enjoyed the fluidity and honest integrity. Len compliments the frame. He says the footwork is a bit suspect but he welcomes him to the competition.
You can vote for Bonner by calling 1 800 868 3401 during the show and for 60 minutes after the broadcast in each time zone. You can also vote online at ABC.COM and/or on FACEBOOK (voting is combined via this method) from the start of the East Coast show till 8PM Eastern the following day.
