Dancing with the Stars 2024 Hair Metal Night Dance Styles, Song Choices

First and foremost, I just need to comment on Derek’s spiky mohawk. Like, I’m obsessed.

Danny and Witney – Paso Doble – “Livin On A Prayer”

Great Paso song. He really nailed the Paso frame. Nothing super standout about this dance though.

Bruno says we’re rocking already and says he was strong, rough and ready, then reminds him to add artistry. Carrie Ann says she loved the attack and attitude, then tells him to tune it in. Derek says there were a few timing issues but he loved the excitement. Gene says he can’t decide which one of them is more hot, hot, hot.

Carrie Ann- 7, Derek- 7, Gene- 9, Bruno- 7 = 30/40

Reginald and Emma – Cha Cha – “I Wanna Rock”

What’s missing in Reginald’s dances is the rhythm. He does so well for someone who has trouble moving. He really got each Cha Cha step, just at a slightly slower pace.

Carrie Ann says he blows her mind and they’re so with him despite him doing the fewest amount of steps. Derek says he’s got a dancer on his tour who has a Reginald fan club voting for him. Gene says it’s all in the attitude and he’s got something. Bruno says he’s very hot.

Carrie Ann- 6, Derek- 5, Gene- 5, Bruno- 5 = 21/40

Chandler and Brandon – Jive – “We’re Not Gonna Take It”

Chandler has perfect posture for ballroom. This dance was so fun and fast. Really embodied the hair metal theme.

Derek says she’s in a league of her own, but notes it lost a little steam at the end. Gene says she fogged up his glasses and she moved him. Bruno says she’s a rock n roll diva and she’s a natural, but says she has a little slip and critiques her kicks and flicks. Carrie Ann says she has high expectations for her and that she could be sharper.

Carrie Ann- 8, Derek- 8, Gene- 9, Bruno- 8 = 33/40

Brooks and Gleb – Cha Cha – “Nothing But A Good Time”

She’s walking like a model rather than with Latin motion. As usual, they put a super sexy spin on a dance though.

Gene compliments her vibe and personality. Bruno says she improved all the way. Carrie Ann says she appreciates what she just witnessed. Derek says it was epic.

Carrie Ann- 8, Derek- 8, Gene- 10, Bruno- 8 = 33/40

Julianne notes that Gene originally put in a 9, so they have to go with what he originally put down.

Stephen and Rylee – Foxtrot – “Here I Go Again”

Still has to work on his timing but what was that burst of breakdancing near the end?!

Bruno says he had beautiful lines and put the work in. Carrie Ann says he took the notes and followed through, but wants to see he understands the movements. Derek says he worked on the frame and timing. Gene asks what that thing he did on the floor was and he’s got so much personality.

Carrie Ann- 8, Derek- 8, Gene- 8, Bruno- 8 = 32/40

Dwight and Daniella – Paso Doble – “Walk This Way”

Dwight has such a great personality. This may be his most technically correct.

Carrie Ann says he’s back in the game and she’s not noticing the height difference as much now. Derek says he’s the comeback king tonight and it could “paso-bly” be his best dance. Gene says it was a slam dunk. Bruno says it was a monumental return and critiques his hand movements.

Carrie Ann- 8, Derek- 7, Gene- 7, Bruno- 7 = 29/40

Eric and Britt – Paso Doble – “Cherry Pie”

Eric is another one who lacks rhythm in his dances. He just steps rather than dances, but had great frame for a Paso.

Derek says he loves his determination and spirit and notes he lost time in the middle. Gene says everything begins and ends with your heart. Bruno says there was a lot of content but the timing went a bit off. Carrie Ann says he’s reconnecting with his body and his confidence in the way he moves is growing.

Carrie Ann- 6, Derek- 5, Gene- 6, Bruno- 5 = 22/40

Ilona and Alan – Jive – “Cum On Feel The Noize”

Not her best dance but Ilona and Alan have a great partnership and really took on the theme of the night. Super fun and content-filled Jive.

Gene says it was magnificent. Bruno says he loves wild and wonderful but she went wrong many times. Carrie Ann says everyone is rooting for her and she’s amazing. Derek says she’s a competitor and she’ll come back next week and be fantastic.

Carrie Ann- 7, Derek- 6, Gene- 7, Bruno- 6 = 26/40

Jenn and Sasha – Paso Doble – “The Final Countdown”

She’s got great posture and legs for Paso, but is missing a bit of the attack in this dance.

Bruno says she put everything into it that the Paso requires. Carrie Ann calls her exciting and says she danced on the edge. Derek says there was a strong calmness about her tonight. Gene says they make a steamy couple and she delivered.

Carrie Ann- 8, Derek- 8, Gene- 7, Bruno- 8 = 31/40

Phaedra and Val – Paso Doble – “You Give Love A Bad Name”

Phaedra always looks like she can’t keep up with the dances. Val perfectly choreographed this one though.

Carrie Ann says another strong performance but there were some mistakes. Derek says she moved across the floor with energy but there were a few little mistakes. Gene says he’s a fan of the bad girl and bad boy. Bruno says she was aiming high but there were mistakes.

Carrie Ann- 7, Derek- 7, Gene- 5, Bruno- 7 = 26/40

I love the way we could see Chandler say, “What is going on??” before it went to commercial.

Joey and Jenna – Tango – “Rock You Like A Hurricane”

What a hot Tango! Jenna noted it was their first time dancing in hold and wow, so impressed for Joey’s first time being in frame!

Derek says it was one of the best Tangos he’s ever seen from a male star. Gene says he’s going to get better and better. Bruno says that’s how you rock a Tango and his leg action and footwork was stunning. Carrie Ann calls is phenomenal and compliments every inch of it.

Carrie Ann- 9, Derek- 9, Gene- 9, Bruno- 9 = 36/40

Results after the break!
