It really is an end of an era. The incomparable Darlene Love sang “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” for the very last time on the Late Show with David Letterman.
Out of all of the “lasts” before Dave leaves the show in May, this one may choke me up the most. Darlene’s yearly performance of the classic 60’s wall of sound era tune has been a tradition since Dave’s NBC Late Night days back in the 80’s
As an aside, I saw Darlene perform at the Little Kids Rock show in New York City a couple of years ago and she is absolutely gorgeous in person. Over 50 years since she recorded such “He’s a Rebel” with Phil Spector and she still sounds amazing!
