Chris Daughtry and his band, Daughtry premiere a new song called “Renegade” and surprise surprise…it rocks REALLY REALLY HARD!* The tune was written by Chris and band member Josh Paul.
Times are really tough for straight up rock bands these days. Rock doesn’t get the play on Top 40 stations that it used to. I think part of the problem is that rock music has shifted to an older demo. R&B, Pop and Hip Hop are what the kids are listing to these days. So even Nickleback, who are releasing their album on November 21–the same day as Daughtry–may have a hard time getting their tunes played on CHR.
However, there’s no indication that “Renegade” is the first single…the band could be releasing a ballad or mid-tempo for the Adult Contemporary crowd that loves them.
But if Daughtry is shifting to a harder sound, which some of the tweets from Chris indicates, I hope they get some play on rock radio.
