Watch Texas native Dave Fenley cover Travis Tritt’s “Help Me Hold On” during The Voice season 15 Blind Auditions 3.

Coach Kelly Clarkson is the first to turn for Dave’s rootsy acoustic performance. But, not one to resist a country artist steeped in history and authenticity, Blake Shelton eventually hits his button as well.

Adam Levine calls Dave “one of my favorites in the competition” but claims to be beaten down by Blake and his “country jamboree.” He immediately begins advocating for Kelly.

“Dave you are awesome,” says Jennifer Hudson. “That voice is classic and it deserves to be all over country music or whatever you want to do.”

Dave admits that his love of music is wide ranging, and proves it by demonstrating a bit of credible beatboxing. “I love country, I love hip hop,” he says.

“This is the team for you brother,” says Blake. “Anybody that crosses all genres. They stuck to what they did best. And people found them.” Blake adds, “You don’t want to have a song on the pop charts.”

“What’s wrong with that” insists Kelly, “Pop means popular. It’s what’s happening. I’m just sayin!”

Who will Dave choose? Queen Kelly (yes, she literally pulls out a crown to prove a point) or Mr. Country Music Blake Shelton?  You’ll have to wait until Monday night (Oct 1) when The Voice Blind Audition 3 airs on NBC at 8 pm ET/PT.
