According to the musical’s official website, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is currently touring in the United Kingdom.
The musical, written by famed musical theater team Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice tells the story of Joseph and his “coat of many colors: from the Bible’s Book of Genesis. In the story, Joseph, his father’s favorite son, is sold into slavery after his jealous brothers try to kill him. The production is mostly singing, with only a few lines of dialogue.
Fun fact: Lloyd Webber served as a mentor for Top 6 week on David’s season of American Idol. That week, contestants sang songs from Lloyd Webber’s musicals, as Lloyd Webber advised them.
David performed “Think of Me” from Phantom of the Opera. Watch it below.
The musical was mounted on Broadway in 1982. Familiar stars who have taken on the role include Donny Osmond, David Cassidy, Sam Harris, Ace Young (American Idol 5) and Joe McElderry (X Factor).
