Pop singer Demi Lovato posed for a nude photo shoot with Vanity Fair, and it’s all about embracing her body with confidence after years of feeling shame. The singer and former X Factor judge spent years battling eating disorders and substance abuse. She struggled and come out the other side with a new-found sense of self-love and acceptance.
“If there’s one thing I’ve learned in the past day, it’s that life is too short,” Demi told the magazine. “I’m about to launch an album that finally represents who I truly am. How do I embrace this new chapter in my life? How do I really walk the walk? What does it mean to be confident? It means letting go, being authentic, saying I don’t give a f*ck and this is who I am. I want to show the side of me that’s real, that’s liberated, that’s free. What if we do a photo shoot where it’s totally raw? Super-sexy, but no makeup, no fancy lighting, no retouching, and no clothing. Let’s do it here, let’s do it now.”
Watch Demi and the VF photographer, Patrick Ecclesine at work in this behind-the-scenes video. Vanity Fair posted a few shots on their Instagram, and their is more at the magazine’s website. The photos are pretty tame. While there are some butt shots, Demi wasn’t ready to “free the nipple” as they say. Demi’s album, Confident, (NATCH!) is due out on October 16.
