Derek Hough Tour Postponed Amid Wife Hayley’s “long road of recovery”
Last week Derek Hough’s wife Hayley Erbert Hough was rushed to the hospital after a life threatening medical emergency. As the dancer recovers, the remaining dates on the couple’s nationwide tour have been cancelled.
Derek explained on Instagram that after Wednesday night’s (Dec 6) tour performance in Washington D.C., Hayley became ill and had to be rushed to the hospital where she was diagnosed with a hematoma and subsequently underwent a craniectomy.
“Hayley…is now on the long road of recovery”
The next day, Derek posted an Instagram update on Hayley’s condition.
“Haley has always inspired me with her will, her strength and her resilience and no more so than in the last 48 hrs. She is now on the long road of recovery,” he wrote. “Words cannot express how grateful and thankful we are for the support and love that you have given us. The kindness that we’ve been shown in this incredibly unfathomable and life changing time is immeasurable.”
“The offers of assistance that have poured in have been so humbling and appreciated,” Derek shared. “Our hope is that as a family, we can somehow and some way pay it forward.”
The Derek Hough: Symphony of Dance Tour has been postponed
Needless to say, the Symphony of Dance Tour, which had dates scheduled through the end of the month has been cancelled. Derek’s official website posted:
“We regret to inform you that Derek Hough: Symphony of Dance will be postponed. At the end of the Dec. 6th tour performance in Washington D.C., Derek’s wife Hayley became disoriented and was taken to the hospital. She was diagnosed with a cranial hematoma from a burst blood vessel and required an emergency craniectomy. She is in stable condition. Derek has asked for prayers and positivity during this time.

The couple tied the knot in August
Derek and Haley tied the knot in August in a beautiful ceremony that took place in a Monterey Country California redwood forest.
Days before the marriage ceremony, Derek released a song, “Hold Back Time,” dedicated to Hayley and their life together. “I sat down at the piano, thinking about our relationship and the massive step of committing my life to you,” Derek wrote on Instagram. “The amount of life we have already shared is pretty incredible. This video is a just a tiny snippet of what we’ve already experienced. Life seems to be moving so fast, I want to hold back time as much as I possibly can to savor each and every moment with you. I can’t wait to continue building memories and a beautiful life with you, together.”
