Congratulations to American Idol mentor Bobby Bones. The country radio star and his pro-partner, Sharna Burgess won Dancing with the Stars season 27. The win was not without controversy as many considered Bones the weakest dancer of the finalists vying for the mirror ball trophy. However, fans of competitive reality shows understand that personality can prevail over talent when it comes to votes. And as far as DWTS is concerned, there isn’t a ton at stake. A chintzy trophy and bragging rights, amiright? Heh.
Overnight, Bobby and Sharna flew to New York city along with fellow finalists Milo Manheim & Witney Carson, Alexis Ren & Alan Bersten and Evanna Lynch & Keo Motsepe to participate in the big Good Morning America DWTS after party.
“To everyone who is told ‘no,’ I just want to say that it doesn’t matter where you’re coming from because we came from the lowest spot,” a humbled Bobby said on GMA. “It wasn’t that we were looking to weeks or looking to even the finale, it was practice by practice and every single practice, when we finished practice, we were like, ‘OK, today is done.’ We did it one day at a time, one climb at a time.”
He went on, “I’ve never danced before and every single person on this is a better dancer than me, including George [Stephanopoulos].”
Bobby and Sharna’s only perfect scores of the competition came after the couple’s freestyle to the song “The Greatest Show.”
“I had the best coach and best teammate who figured out how to teach me,” Bobby complimented Sharna. Burgess. “I didn’t know what I was doing at all and she taught me and we’re here because of that.”
