Dancing with the Stars couple Britt Stewart and Daniel Durant are engaged
Dancing with the Stars pro Britt Stewart and her former celebrity partner, actor Daniel Durant are engaged.
The CODA star got down on one knee and and proposed to Britt while on a hike in Lake Arrowhead, California, with their families on Christmas Day. Daniel popped the question after they reached the mountaintop. The pro dancer’s mom and stepdad, Jasmin and Lonnie Speed, and Daniel’s moms, Lori Durant and Mary Engels shared in the special moment.
After the members of the party shared what they were grateful for, what they looked forward to in the future, Daniel pulled out a ring and proposed, saying he was looking forward to a future with Britt.
“I was the last one — and I started talking about the year, about us meeting and everything that happens in life,” Daniel shared with People magazine. “I just feel like there’s balance. She sees me. She knows my culture, my language, and understands everything about me,” Daniel said, admitting that he got teary in the moment.
“We were both emotional, overwhelmed with joy and at peace knowing that this would eventually be part of our story,” Britt told People, adding, “It felt like magic, but at the same time, it felt right and normal.”
Britt and Daniel competed on Dancing with the Stars season 31 in 2022
The couple were originally dance partners on Dancing with the Stars, coming in fifth place on season 31, which aired from September to November of 2022. They announced they were dating in 2023 on Valentine’s Day, with Daniel explaining to PEOPLE that their romance didn’t begin until after they were eliminated from the competition.
Daniel, a deaf actor, taught Britt American Sign Language (ASL) quickly as she taught him to dance during the competition. The two began to realize they had feelings for each other at around week 8 of the competition when they performed a jazz routine to “Enjoy the Silence” by Depeche Mode which featured a sequence of choreography danced without music.

The couple announced their engagement on Instagram.
The two received congratulations in the comment section alongside the post. “OH MY GOSH! I’m elated for you both!!!” wrote American Idol alum Jordin Sparks, who also competed on Season 31. It was written in the Stars congratulations!!” Pro Rylee Arnold wrote, “STOP ITTTT so happy for you guys!!!!!” Peta Murgatroyd, Nikki Garcia, Koko Iwasaki, Daniel Kragach, Val Chmerkovskiy and more also offered congrats.
