Dancing with the Stars’ Maks Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd welcome their second son.
Maks Chmerkovskiy received the best Father’s Day present ever on Sunday. On social media, he announced the birth of his baby boy with wife Dancing with the Stars pro Peta Murgatroyd.
“Happy Father’s Day to me,” the DWTS alum wrote alongside a photo of himself holding his new baby.” He also tagged the post #MadeinPeta.

His sister-in-law Jenna Johnson chimed in “We love him so much.” Maks’ brother Val Chmerkovskiy and his wife Jenna, both Dancing with the Stars pros, welcomed their first child, also a baby boy on January 10.
Earlier in the day, Maks posted a photo with Peta taken at the hospital. “It’s go time!” he wrote. “Made it to LA from Napa in record time! Courtesy of (about to be thrice) grandpa Sasha ;)” He continued, “@petamurgatroyd is the fantastic unicorn that she is and I can’t wait for another one of her best creations! She is an absolutely amazing boy mom and about to birth another lucky man into this world. Wish us luck. Happy tears. I can’t wait.”
Peta shared her fertility struggles
Baby boy number 2 was born five years after the birth of their first son, Shai. When Peta announced her pregnancy she shared about her heartbreaking fertility struggles. The dancer had previously suffered three miscarriages trying to have a second child.
Eventually, the couple worked with a team of fertility doctors and started the process of in vitro fertilization.
“For the first time in nearly two years, I feel excited,” Peta said. The doctors believed she has Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, a hormonal imbalance that can cause ovulation issues, leading to infertility. “I’m in a much happier place. I got answers.”
“I don’t have any other words but hope and positivity. I’m crossing my fingers that this is going to work,” she said.
Maks travelled to the hospital from Napa, where he and Val are performing in their Savor Wine Tasting Residency through September.
