Congratulations to DWTS pro dancer, Witney Carson. She and her high school sweetheart, Carson McAllister, were married during a three-part celebration in the Salt Lake City area on New Year’s Day, People Magazine reports.
“I’m just excited to start our lives together,” said Witney. She and Carson exchanged rings at a small religious ceremony before hosting a large dinner and reception at NOAH’s Event Venue in South Jordan, Utah.
Witney first hit our TV screens as a contestant on season 9 of So You Think You Can Dance in 2012. The ballroom dancer with a latin specialty joined Dancing with the Stars 17 as a troupe dancer, and was promoted to pro for season 18. She and Alfonso Ribeiro won the season 19 Mirror Ball trophy in 2014.
Along with over 100 attending relatives at the reception, DWTS pals in attendance included fellow pro dancers Emma Slater, Lindsay Arnold, Brittany Cherry, and Jenna Johnson serving as bridesmaids while her former DWTS partners Carlos Penavega, Chris Soules, and Alfonso Ribeiro attended as guests. Dance pro Kym Johnson and Carlos’ wife, and fellow DWTS contestant, Alexa PenaVega were also present for the festivities.
The couple, both 22, started dating during senior year at high school. After graduation, Carson headed off to Romania on a Mormon mission, while Witney competed on SYTYCD. After Carson returned he went into business with his father in Utah, while Witney joined the DWTS cast.
“We’ve been in this limbo where he’s in Utah and I’m in L.A. and we haven’t been able to create a life together,” Witney said. “Now, we get to have a fresh start together. I’m excited. He’s my best friend.”
