According to prognosticators, Fantasia’s 3rd studio album, released Aug 24, is on track to debut next week on the Billboard 200 at #2 behind Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream”.
Her sales numbers are expected to be in the 150 to 175K range.
The publicity around Fantasia’s personal life–reports of a sex tape and relationship with a married man and subsequent suicide attempt–aren’t hurting her album sales.
In fact, Fantasia may buck the law of diminishing returns many Idols face, as ‘Back to Me’ will likely best the first week sales of her 2nd album, Fantasia. Released in June 2007, the self-titled album entered the Billboard 200 at No. 19, with 133K units sold.
Fantasia’s debut, Free Yourself released in November 2004 and sold 240K in its first week
