COVID-19 has caught up with The Voice winners Girl Named Tom. All three siblings have contracted the illness, but it has hit sister Bekah Liechty the hardest. She took to social media on Tuesday to explain why the singing group needs to cancel a week of concert dates amid their jam-packed tour.
In an Instagram video, Bekah apologizes to the group’s fans. “I just want to say how sorry I am that we’re not going to be able to play…these shows this week.”
She continues, “I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else but standing on stage in Bryan Ohio on June 25th. I have been looking forward…for so long. And Lakeside and Anderson. I just hate any show that we have to cancel.”
The show in Bryan, Ohio was Girl Named Tom’s only concert scheduled in Northwest Ohio for 2022. The group is from Pettisville. So missing shows in Ohio, like the free concert in Bryan is particularly difficult for the band.

“Thank you for understanding that we are humans, we are not machines,”Bekah explains. “COVID was trying to catch us for a very long time. We were dodging it. But now it finally caught us.”
The virus has hit Bekah hard. “I fee terrible,” she says with an obviously scratchy throat. “It’s hit me really hard. I’m praying that my brothers [Joshua and Caleb] don’t get hit quite as hard, but we’re taking care of each other the best we can. ” She ends the clip saying, “We love you guys. We will be back.”
The comment alongside the clip reads, “Covid hitting us hard. Nothing we can do but rest and take care of ourselves! It hurts that we have to cancel this week’s shows. Thanks for understanding. We love you.”

Girl Named Tom’s schedule for this week included Anderson, Indiana at the Paramount Theater on June 23, Lakeside Ohio at the Hoover Auditorium on June 24 and Bryan, Ohio at the Fountain City Amphitheater on June 25.
